Job summary

Sanofi is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Global eCommerce Software Engineering team in Barcelona. You will shape the technical future of a $7B global business connecting patients and healthcare professionals to medicines and vaccines, driving strategy across teams and delivering scalable architectures.

You will mentor senior engineers, advocate for cloud-native practices, and partner with product, engineering, and external partners to deliver impactful solutions.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading technical initiatives and mentoring senior engineers.
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud-native development and microservices.
• Experience in API design, CI/CD, observability, and automated testing.

Main responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy across multiple teams and domains, designing scalable, resilient architectures for global eCommerce platforms - from customer-facing experiences to backend operations
• Own critical technical decisions, balancing engineering excellence with pragmatism to deliver high-quality solutions on time
• Champion best practices in cloud-native development, microservices, APIs, CI/CD, DevOps, and cybersecurity across the organization
• Mentor and grow senior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, psychological safety, and continuous improvement
• Bridge engineering, product, and business teams, ensuring technical direction aligns with organizational goals and delivers real impact for patients
• Represent engineering in conversations with external partners and vendors, advocating for sound technical standards

About you

• Experience: Proven track record leading technical initiatives and mentoring senior engineers in fast-paced, innovative environments
• Technical skills: Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js), React or equivalent, and an object-oriented language (Java, Python, C++, or similar); hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Infrastructure as Code, microservices, API design, CI/CD, observability tools (e.g. DataDog), and automated testing
• Soft skills: Strong communicator and collaborative leader who can influence peers and leadership alike; growth mindset with a passion for innovation and learning
• Education: A background in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Languages: Fluent English (written and verbal)
