Job summary

Prime Insights is seeking a Staff Database Engineer to own the Data area within Core Engineering. You will manage MariaDB production clusters under load and shape our data architecture across MariaDB, ClickHouse, and CDC pipelines to support transactional and analytical workloads.

You will design, implement, and optimize replication, backups, and disaster recovery while partnering with cross-functional squads to ensure data quality, safety, and performance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years working with production databases
• Hands-on MariaDB/MySQL DBA on high-load systems
• Able to read and explain query plans
• Experience running ClickHouse in production
• Strong scripting: Bash, Python or Go
• Excellent English communication across teams

Responsibilities

• Own production MariaDB replication topologies, health, upgrades and tuning
• Build monitoring and alerting for slow queries, replication lag and storage growth
• Review and optimize queries, indexes, and schemas with product squads
• Own backups, point-in-time recovery and disaster recovery planning
• Define end-to-end data architecture for MariaDB, ClickHouse and pipelines
• Manage schema and dbt models, partitioning and materialized views
• Operate CDC from MariaDB, Airbyte, event streams and batch loads to ClickHouse
