Airbus Defence and Space SAU in Getafe (Madrid) seeks a Senior Software Simulation Engineer to lead the design, development and management of advanced software simulations for the Spanish Trainer. You will deliver training in Spanish and contribute across the full lifecycle from requirements to system integration in real-time environments.

The role requires expert C++ programming, deep knowledge of memory management and concurrent systems, and experience with Linux, Docker, Conan and Make files.

Formación

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
• At least 10 years of experience with strict software development lifecycles (AQAP, DO-178C, or similar).
• Strong testing framework experience and understanding of V-Model development cycles and integration into complex simulation environments or embedded avionics systems.

Responsabilidades

Job Description

An opportunity for an Spanish Trainer Simulation – Senior Software Simulation Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate will join the Development Team for the Spanish Trainer. You will be responsible for leading the design, development, and management of advanced software simulations, as well as delivering training on these solutions in Spanish. You will be part of the full software development lifecycle — from requirements engineering and architectural design to implementation, testing, and system integration within complex simulation environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Developing the simulation SW to be included in the Embedded Training Solution of the SAETA 2 aircraft trainer.
• Supporting the development and operation of the SAETA 2 Simulators.
• Supporting the design, development, and deployment of the devices that compose the Ground Based Training System where all future Spanish Combat Pilots will train (including Virtual Reality Training Devices).
• Collaborating on feasibility studies investigating new features to optimize pilot training.
• Elicit, analyze, and document high/low-level software requirements ensuring full traceability, while leading the architectural design of complex components optimized for real-time systems.
• Implement robust, high-performance code using modern C++, and perform hands‑on integration into large-scale simulators or avionics Hardware‑in‑the-Loop (HIL) environments.
• Define test strategies (including automated test suites), conduct peer code reviews, and adhere to strict mission‑critical software lifecycle standards.

SKILLS

Is your profile aligned to the following list of skills?

• Education: Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience: At least 10 years of experience working under strict software development lifecycles (e.g., AQAP, DO-178C, or similar formal methodologies), proficiency in testing frameworks and a strong understanding of V-Model development cycles and experience integrating software into complex simulation environments or embedded avionics systems.
• Soft skills: a highly proactive, driven, and fully committed PERSON.
• Languages: Advanced level in English.
• Technical knowledge: Expert C++ Programming, Mastery of C++ with a focus on memory management, concurrency, and performance optimization. Deep knowledge of design patterns and software architecture. Linux, Dockers, Conan, Make files.
• Availability to travel: average of one week each two months.
• Valuable / Nice to have: a C++ Specialist with proven team management skills.
• We seek a software development expert with a deep specialization in any phase of the software development lifecycle.
