DP World is growing! We have exciting opportunities for Solutions Engineers of all levels to join our ever expanding business across Spain, Italy, Portugal or the Netherlands, due to significant growth and contract wins. The primary focus of these roles will be to bring solutions to life for our prospective customers within the Contract Logistics space, analysing customer information and designing a solution fit for purpose for the customer requirement. You will be experienced in the development of concepts for use in formal customer proposals including, but not limited to, process flow diagrams, automation processes and facility layouts in complex cases.
These roles will involve periods of significant travel across Europe, so flexibility in being able to travel is an essential criterion of this role.
How you will contribute
- Responsible for identifying, developing, and nurturing new customers and sales activities with existing customers, which may include beneficial cargo owners, freight.
- Design supply chain / contract logistics solutions from large scale (geographical optimisation) down to small scale (design of processes and lines / stations) as part of the RFQ process.
- Work closely with Business Development / Account Management, Launch, and Operational teams as part of the solution development process.
- Lead the presentation of technical solutions to customers through proposals, conference calls, and presentations in conjunction with account management.
- Develop RFQ concepts into fully detailed designs post‑award as part of the launch process.
- Actively support and, when required, lead the delivery of the engineering elements of new business launch including the creation of master data, process validation, infrastructure works, onboarding of plant teams, and onsite contractor management.
- Act as an interface between the regional function and all other areas of the business as required.
- Ensure engineering function is aligned with operations team and other support functions during RFQ and launch phase.
- Be able to translate high‑level operational briefs / objectives into defined solution proposals, progress them, and deploy into the live operation.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of regional and global initiatives.
- Complete new MTM process assessments or update existing processes as required.
- Ensure clear and quantifiable data is available to show contribution to business made by individuals and the function as a whole.
- Act as a “troubleshooter” when required, identify pinch points or problem areas, ensure root‑cause analysis is completed where appropriate, and implement corrective measures into operations.
- Be able to work independently and under own initiative on any site and ensure delivery of engineering obligations / requirements as dictated by regional engineering management and local plant management.
- Support the training and development of plant‑based engineering teams and embed regional standards within sites.
- Complete root‑cause analysis where appropriate and identify corrective measures.
- Be an SME (subject‑matter expert) on engineering processes, tools and techniques including MTM, AutoCAD, SketchUp & Excel.
- Handle any activity or function deemed within the scope and capability of the role in the support of engineering function or operations.
What you will bring
- Prior experience with working across Solutions Design for 3PL / 4PL or Freight Forwarding services.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
- Ability to empathise and understand client’s viewpoint and requirements and act as their champion within the engineering function.
- Ability to interpret data and derive solid conclusions from analysis.
- Highly developed computer skills, including Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and familiarity with common formulas), Word, Visio or equivalent, and Project Management software. Proficient in using AutoCAD to design functional workings of solutions in 3D and 2D formats.
- Project management and operational experience.
