Résumé du poste

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, seeks a Software Engineer (Edge – Devices & Mobile) based in Spain. You will design and maintain a cross‑platform Rust peer runtime across Windows, Android, and Linux, with future macOS support, focusing on security and reliability.

You will work at the intersection of systems, mobile platforms, and distributed infrastructure, owning components, improving observability, and collaborating with global teams.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of professional experience developing, shipping, and maintaining production-grade software using Rust.
  • Proven experience building and deploying cross-platform Rust applications on Windows, macOS, and Android, including at least one mobile platform.
  • Strong understanding of operating system internals, process management, permissions, background execution, and platform-specific constraints.
  • Hands-on experience with FFI and integrating Rust with C/C++ libraries and native OS APIs, including JNI/NDK, Win32, and POSIX interfaces.
  • Solid knowledge of networking protocols, particularly TCP, TLS, and HTTP, with ability to inspect traffic and analyze fingerprint differences.
  • Experience with asynchronous programming and networking in Rust (e.g., Tokio, Tonic).
  • Strong focus on reliability, observability, performance monitoring, and production operations for distributed device fleets.
  • Good understanding of secure software design for third-party devices and environments.
  • Excellent written communication and ability to collaborate in a remote-first, globally distributed team.
  • Interest in reverse engineering, networking, and complex systems; familiarity with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, mTLS, Chromium networking, Kotlin/Java, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Kubernetes, and cloud infra is advantageous.

Responsabilités

  • Design, develop, and maintain a cross-platform Rust peer runtime across Windows, Android, Linux, with macOS in scope.
  • Manage process lifecycles, background execution, networking, updates, and stability across diverse hardware.
  • Lead platform expansion to Android devices using NDK and JNI, addressing foreground services and battery considerations.
  • Integrate native networking technologies (Cronet, C++) and HTTP clients into Rust libraries.
  • Work with OS APIs and FFI, ensuring safe memory management and cross-language interoperability.
  • Collect and analyze hardware and OS signals (TCP, TLS, HTTP) to improve realism and support cross-team collaboration.
  • Develop device-level observability and performance metrics (uptime, bandwidth, availability, drop-offs, success rates).
  • Expand capabilities to support additional workloads while maintaining security boundaries around untrusted content.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, investigate incidents, and drive reliability and deployment improvements.
  • Contribute to documentation, architecture proposals, design reviews, and Rust development standards.

Description du poste

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer (Edge – Devices & Mobile) based in Spain.

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with strong Rust expertise to help build and scale a sophisticated, cross-platform device infrastructure. In this role, you will develop and maintain a reliable peer runtime across Windows, Android, and Linux, with future expansion to macOS. You will work at the intersection of systems engineering, mobile platforms, networking, and distributed infrastructure. A key focus will be bringing advanced capabilities to mobile devices while ensuring seamless performance, security, and reliability across a globally distributed fleet. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges. This is an opportunity to take significant ownership of critical infrastructure, influence architectural decisions, and contribute to innovative large-scale data collection systems.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain a cross-platform Rust peer runtime supporting Windows, Android, and Linux, with future compatibility for macOS.
  • Manage process lifecycles, background execution, networking, automatic updates, and operational stability across diverse and unmanaged hardware environments.
  • Lead the expansion of the platform to Android devices using NDK and JNI, addressing foreground services, battery optimization, mobile network constraints, and integration with real and emulated device environments.
  • Integrate native networking technologies, including Chromium's network stack (Cronet and C++), and browserless HTTP clients into well-structured, reliable Rust libraries.
  • Work with native operating system APIs and foreign function interfaces (FFI), ensuring safe memory management, ownership, and cross-language interoperability.
  • Collect and analyze hardware and operating system signals, including TCP, TLS, and HTTP fingerprints, to improve network realism and support collaboration with browser and anti-detection engineering teams.
  • Develop comprehensive device-level observability and performance metrics, monitoring uptime, bandwidth consumption, device availability, drop-off rates, and task success rates.
  • Expand peer capabilities to support additional workloads, including CAPTCHA solving and browser rendering, while maintaining strong security boundaries around untrusted content and environments.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, investigate production incidents, conduct post-mortems, and implement improvements to system reliability and deployment processes.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, architecture proposals, design reviews, and engineering standards, helping establish best practices for cross-platform Rust development.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of professional experience developing, shipping, and maintaining production-grade software using Rust.
  • Proven experience building and deploying cross-platform Rust applications on at least two operating systems among Windows, macOS, and Android, including experience with at least one mobile platform.
  • Strong understanding of operating system internals, process management, permissions, background execution, and platform-specific constraints.
  • Hands-on experience with FFI and integrating Rust with C/C++ libraries and native operating system APIs, including JNI/NDK, Win32, and POSIX interfaces.
  • Solid knowledge of networking protocols, particularly TCP, TLS, and HTTP, with the ability to inspect network traffic, understand protocol-level behavior, and analyze client fingerprint differences.
  • Experience with asynchronous programming and networking in Rust, ideally using technologies such as Tokio and Tonic.
  • Strong focus on software reliability, observability, performance monitoring, and production operations, including the ability to measure and troubleshoot distributed device fleets remotely.
  • Good understanding of secure software design, particularly when deploying and operating software on third-party devices and environments.
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a globally distributed, remote-first engineering team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with intellectual curiosity and an interest in reverse engineering, networking technologies, and complex systems.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as gRPC, Protocol Buffers, mutual TLS (mTLS), Chromium networking, Kotlin, Java, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure is advantageous.
Nice-to-have qualifications:
  • Experience developing or operating residential proxy networks, peer-to-peer applications, or large-scale device farms.
  • Knowledge of browser internals and networking technologies such as Chromium, Cronet, Firefox networking, or anti-detection techniques.
  • Background in distributed systems, particularly schedulers, orchestration platforms, control planes, and large-scale infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with web scraping technologies and the technical challenges of collecting data from websites at scale.
  • Contributions to open-source projects, particularly in the Rust, networking, or mobile development ecosystems.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote working environment, with the flexibility to work from wherever you are most productive.
  • Flexible working hours within a high-trust and supportive team culture.
  • Opportunity to join a self-motivated, progressive, and multicultural international engineering team.
  • Access to cutting-edge open-source technologies, modern development tools, and advanced infrastructure.
  • Opportunities to attend industry conferences and connect with colleagues from around the world.
  • Significant technical ownership and the opportunity to contribute to complex, large-scale engineering projects.
  • Exposure to innovative technologies at the intersection of AI, networking, distributed systems, and web data collection.
  • A collaborative environment that encourages continuous learning, architectural research, and professional development.
