Expedia Group is hiring for a Madrid-based Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver high-quality software features for the TAAP platform that powers travel agent partners worldwide.

You will work with Java/Kotlin/Scala, build RESTful services, and contribute to architecture discussions while collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams to create scalable, maintainable solutions.

Formación

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building scalable, distributed systems.
• Experience with JVM-based languages such as Java, Kotlin or Scala.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and DevOps practices (CI/CD, containers).
• Proficient communication in English in a distributed, cross‑functional team.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and deliver high-quality software features and services for the TAAP platform globally.
• Write clean, well-tested code across the full SDLC using Java and JVM-based technologies.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decisions.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues to ensure reliability and performance.
• Review code and provide constructive feedback to foster quality and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to engineering practices, tooling, and processes within the team.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end B2B experiences for travel agents.

Introduction to the Team

In B2B division, we bring Expedia Group's innovative technology and distribution solutions to partners across the world. These businesses include global financial institutions, corporate managed travel, offline travel agents, global travel suppliers (like major airlines) and many more.

The TAAP (Travel Agent Affiliate Program) engineering team is at the heart of empowering travel agents worldwide with the tools, platforms, and technology they need to book and manage travel for their clients. Based in Madrid, you will be part of a collaborative, distributed engineering team focused on building reliable, scalable, and modern B2B solutions that make a real difference for our partners and their travelers.

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, and deliver high-quality software features and services that power the TAAP platform for travel agent partners globally.
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code across the full software development lifecycle, primarily using Java and JVM-based technologies.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decisions that shape the direction of the platform.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate business requirements into scalable solutions.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues, ensuring platform reliability and performance.
• Review code from peers and provide constructive technical feedback to foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to the improvement of engineering practices, tooling, and processes within the team.
• Partner with cross-functional teams across Expedia Group to deliver end-to-end B2B experiences for our travel agent partners.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong background in designing and building scalable, distributed systems.
• Experience with JVM-based languages such as Java, Kotlin or Scala
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines, containerisation with Docker/Kubernetes).
• Proficient communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed, cross-functional team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously in a fast-paced, agile environment.

The total cash range for this position in Madrid is €43,000.00 to €60,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to €69,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
