Astrafy is seeking a Senior Software & AI Engineer to lead design and delivery of scalable AI-powered applications. You will architect complex systems, integrate AI capabilities via cloud APIs, and own the full development lifecycle from spec to deployment.

The role requires deep software engineering expertise, cloud experience, and a passion for GenAI. Hybrid work with in‑person collaboration in Madrid combines with remote flexibility.

Formación

• Extensive professional software engineering experience with production-grade systems.
• Strong software architecture skills: microservices, APIs, and pattern design.
• Advanced Python proficiency and ecosystem experience.
• Cloud experience on at least one major platform (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Passion for artificial intelligence and GenAI, with ability to shift focus to this area.
• Excellent problem-solving and clear communication in English.

As a Senior Software & AI Engineer at Astrafy, you will be a technical leader in designing and building the next generation of AI‑powered applications for our customers. This role is perfect for a seasoned software engineer or architect with a deep expertise in building robust, scalable systems, who is looking to apply their skills to the rapidly evolving field of Generative AI.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design of complex, AI‑driven software solutions, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and secure.
• Develop and integrate AI capabilities into applications by interfacing with third‑party AI services and APIs (e.g., Google Cloud Vertex AI).
• Own the end‑to‑end software development lifecycle, from translating client needs into technical specifications to implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Champion software engineering best practices, driving code quality, implementing robust testing strategies, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
• Stay at the forefront of AI and cloud technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and drive technical strategy.

Must have

• Extensive professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of shipping production‑grade applications.
• Strong expertise in software architecture, including microservices, API design, and system design patterns.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and its ecosystem for application development.
• Deep experience with at least one major cloud platform (GCP, AWS, Azure), with Google Cloud experience being a strong plus.
• A demonstrated passion for artificial intelligence and a strong desire to transition your career into the GenAI space.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to navigate technical ambiguity.
• Fluency in English and strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Nice to have

• Hands‑on experience integrating with Generative AI APIs, whether directly or using frameworks like ADK, LangChain, etc.
• Understanding of AI agent concepts, including tool calling, MCP, and skills.
• Experience with vector databases and search technologies (e.g., Vertex AI Vector Search, Pinecone, AlloyDB Omni).
• Familiarity with MLOps principles (e.g., CI/CD for AI, model monitoring, and observability).
• Experience in a client‑facing or consulting role.

Location & Work Model

This role follows a hybrid model. We value in‑person collaboration and ask our team members to join us at our offices in Sol, Madrid, for 2 days a week. The rest of the week offers the flexibility of remote work.
