Berkley España (a Berkley Company) in Madrid seeks an experienced Senior Underwriter to own underwriting new business and manage a portfolio, building broker relationships and contributing to growth.

You will operate within underwriting authority, pricing and structuring multi-line deals, and coordinating renewals, while collaborating with claims, operations, and legal teams to deliver strong financial and customer outcomes.

Formación

• Minimum 5 years’ underwriting experience in the insurance market.
• Strong technical underwriting knowledge and commercial awareness.
• Proven ability to build and maintain broker relationships.
• Excellent organisation and ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Proactive, resilient, and collaborative approach.
• Degree in Business, Economics, Law, or similar (preferred).
• Business-level English and Spanish required.

Responsabilidades

Responsabilidades

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our growing Custom team in Spain. This is a high-impact role where you’ll take ownership of underwriting new business and managing a portfolio, while building strong broker relationships and contributing to commercial growth.

You’ll operate within your underwriting authority, working across potentially multi-line business, and playing a key role in delivering strong financial and customer outcomes.

Underwriting & Portfolio Management

• Underwrite new business and renewals within your authority level
• Assess risks, price and structure deals, and produce accurate quotes
• Manage policy issuance and amendments
• Monitor and manage renewals, including non-tacit business
• Support portfolio performance tracking and improvements

Broker Development & Sales

• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers across your region [
• Support business development through meetings, presentations, and training
• Contribute to growth, retention, and profitability targets

Collaboration & Delivery

• Work closely with underwriting, operations, claims, and legal teams
• Contribute to team initiatives, product development, and innovation projects
• Participate in business planning and cross-functional collaboration
