Preply is seeking a Learning Design & Sciences leader to define teaching quality standards and shape tutor development globally. You will collaborate with the Learning Tribe and Supply Operations to craft high-impact programs and measurement frameworks that raise tutor quality across languages and subjects.

You will co-lead our Academy strategy, design interventions, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, effective tutor development that benefits millions of learners worldwide.

Formación

• Significant experience in tutor development, ideally within an edtech or tutoring marketplace setting or within a well-respected training institution
• Experience in designing and delivering high quality tutor development at scale
• Strong network in tutor development circles and demonstrable thought leadership around teaching quality
• Excellent, inspiring communicator with deep facilitation skills and understanding of how to engage learners in online environments

At Preply, we take pride in having the largest and most diverse base of tutors among all online language learning platforms. Our tutors play a crucial role in our vision to power people’s progress. We are constantly pushing the boundaries, conducting hundreds of AB tests, and identifying opportunities to enhance the experience for both our students and tutors.

As a member of the Learning Design & Sciences team, you’ll be working jointly with the Learning Tribe, which focuses on creating best-in-class learning experiences and tutor tooling and the Supply Operations team, which focuses on delivering life-changing learning experiences for tutors. In this role, you will lead on defining teaching quality at Preply: the skills and capabilities we want our tutors to have, how we measure these and how we grow them. You’ll co-lead on our ambitious Academy strategy: helping to define, design and commission our tutor development offering - ensuring that Preply tutors can access the development they need to succeed. You will work cross-functionally to define and maintain high-impact learning programs, act as a thought leader and inspiration to our tutor community, and help tutors thrive by identifying tutor development needs and designing interventions to grow tutor quality.

What you’ll be doing:

• Together with Learning Design and Supply Operations, define and refine Preply’s teaching quality standards and develop a strategy to ensure tutor quality grows measurably, quarter by quarter, for both language and non-language subjects
• Lead on the pedagogical and assessment strategy for our Initial Tutor Training program, ensuring it is best in class and appealing to one to one tutors globally.
• Continuously analyze our teaching quality metrics and optimise tutor development content and strategy to optimise growth in teaching quality
• Commission appropriate tutor development content and hire/train SMEs across subject areas, making sure that tutor development programs set tutors up for success
• Together with Supply Engagement team, develop Tutor Academy strategy, including pedagogical content, roadmap and defining delivery methods as well as contributing to the agenda and delivery for our annual Tutor Conference and regular webinar schedule
• With the Supply Engagement Team, develop our assessment content and delivery strategy for tutor development programs.
• With our B2B Team, develop specific teaching strategies and assessment and course content requirements to meet client needs
• Work closely with Learning Design team on aligning strategy for future tutor development curriculum, making sure it is aligned with strategy for self-learning curriculum and in-lesson feature development.
• Work closely with Customer Experience Team on the development of specific development content in relation to the teaching of children
• Act as a thought leader on tutor development internally and externally, helping to raise the perception of Preply as a leader in tutor and teaching quality.

What you need to succeed:

• Are you passionate about teaching quality in online tutoring marketplaces ? Do you have the experience to combine commercial acumen with rigorous adherence to teaching quality standards and tutor development?
• Significant experience in tutor development, ideally within an edtech or tutoring marketplace setting or within a well-respected training institution
• Experience in designing and delivering high quality tutor development at scale
• Strong previous experience delivering one to one training in an online environment
• Strong network in tutor development circles and demonstrable thought leadership around teaching quality
• Excellent, inspiring communicator with deep facilitation skills and understanding of how to engage learners in online environments
• Comfortable using data tools (e.g. Amplitude, Looker) to evaluate performance and continuously improve learning impact
• Confident working with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams (Product, Comms, Data) to build targeted, high-quality courses
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English

Nice to have:

• Experience in global language tutoring marketplaces, ideally in cross-functional product or operations environments
• Experience with tutor development for language subjects
• Experience with tutor development for teaching young children
• Experience with delivering training or tutor development for corporates
• Experience using AI tools to enhance teaching and educator development or to develop content
• Experience building partnerships with external providers, e.g. assessment, certification or validation of training quality
• Proficiency in additional languages (especially Spanish)
