Job summary

edenity is building its own brokerage core and seeks a senior/staff engineer to design and own a production-grade double-entry ledger. You’ll write and review code across balances, ledger, accounting and reconciliation, and guide other engineers.

The role requires experience with high-load financial systems, real reconciliation work, and fluent Turkish and English. Remote from Europe time zones with occasional visits to Istanbul; brokerage settlement knowledge is a plus.

Job description

Our client is one of Turkey’s leading investment apps and a licensed brokerage. More than 3.5 million people use it to invest in Turkish, US and European stocks, options, warrants, funds and crypto from one app, and to trade on credit. The platform runs 24/7, and a single tweet can push traffic up tenfold in minutes.

The company has raised over $140M, including an $80M Series B led by a top-tier US fintech investor, the largest fintech round in Turkey to date. A global development finance institution and the fund of a well-known European fintech founder are also investors. It is headquartered in Istanbul and has around 200 engineers.

The role

The company is building its own brokerage core, one phase at a time. Account opening and money movement come first, then Turkish markets, then the US side. Every phase runs through the same four things: balances, the ledger, accounting and reconciliation. You’ll design the ledger at the heart of it with the engineering manager who leads the core’s architecture. You’ll write code, review designs and guide the engineers around you.

This role suits a hands-on engineer who has built or owned a production double-entry ledger and wants to build one again from zero.

What you’ll be doing

• Design the new core’s double-entry ledger model with the team
• Write and review code across balances, ledger, accounting and reconciliation
• Reconcile against banks, custodians and partners, and fix breaks with reversals and adjustments that keep the audit trail clean
• Turn what operations and finance need into ledger features
• Work out with the Director of Engineering how each quarterly milestone gets delivered

What you’ll need

• Senior or staff-level engineering on financial systems that must be correct: no money lost, nothing recorded twice, right under high load
• A ledger you built in production, or owned and ran for years. Building features on top of someone else’s ledger isn’t enough
• Double-entry bookkeeping in practice (client and company accounts, cash and assets, append-only history, reversals rather than edits)
• Real reconciliation work, and a real-time balance layer running alongside the ledger
• High-load systems with millions of orders, continuous settlement and end-of-day processes
• Fluent Turkish and English
• Nice to have: brokerage experience (settlement dates, clearing and custody, dividends and splits, margin), ledgers at a bank, payments company or neobank, or Java, Go and PostgreSQL

Remote from anywhere in or near European time zones, with regular visits to the Istanbul office.
