ERNI is seeking a Senior Rust Engineer in Valencia to join an International Service Delivery Center within a regulated environment. You will design, develop and maintain robust Rust backend components in a distributed, event-driven architecture, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes scalability, reliability, and modern cloud-native practices. A strong background in Rust, Docker/Kubernetes, and Agile processes, plus English fluency, is required for success.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Software/Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Strong Rust development experience (2+ years) with async/await.
• Experience with Rust web libraries (Tokio, Actix-web, Rocket, Serde) and SQL libraries.
• Experience designing distributed, event-driven systems; familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• English fluency.

Do you want to work for an International Service Delivery Center in Spain as a Senior Rust Engineer?

You will be part of a cross-functional agile team building a next-generation data management platform within a highly regulated environment. The system is designed using a distributed, event-driven microservices architecture, handling complex workflows, real-time data processing, and integrations with external systems.

The platform emphasizes scalability, resilience, traceability, and high reliability, leveraging modern technologies such as Rust, container orchestration, and event sourcing patterns. The team operates within an agile framework, focusing on continuous delivery, built-in quality, and strong engineering practices.

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Software/Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong hands-on Rust development experience (ideally 2+ years) with deep knowledge of ownership, borrowing, lifetimes and async/await.
• Practical experience with Rust web/async libraries and ecosystem (e.g., Tokio, Actix-web, Rocket, Serde, SQL libraries).
• Experience designing and implementing event-driven, distributed systems.
• Familiarity with design patterns for distributed systems and resilient architectures.
• Experience with Linux containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and basic scripting.
• Experience with automated testing and integration testing between backend and frontend.
• Working knowledge of DDD, TDD and BDD practices.
• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, or similar).
• English fluency.

Nice to have

• Prior involvement in regulated environments (e.g., medical devices) and familiarity with quality/regulatory standards.
• Proficiency with React and automated UI testing.
• Exposure to AI-enabled development practices and modern cloud-native architectures.
• German language skills.
• ISAQB Foundation or relevant advanced modules (or equivalent).

You will be responsible for

• Design, develop and maintain robust Rust backend components, applying pragmatic problem-solving and deep technical knowledge.
• Implement asynchronous Rust solutions and integrate them into event-driven architectures.
• Contribute to architecture and design reviews; define and document unit specifications, interfaces and quality attributes.
• Build and maintain integrations with LIS/LIMS, lab instruments and other lab IT systems; handle data persistence, auditing and accessibility requirements.
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality software that meets regulatory and QMS requirements.
• Implement and maintain automated testing and ensure traceability to requirements.
• Maintain documentation and regulatory artifacts required for audits and compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement of code quality, reliability and performance; mentor peers and promote ownership across the team.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to tech leads, product owners and cross-functional teams to foster collaboration and learning.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and coordinate with other teams for aligned delivery.
• Follow security-and privacy-aware development practices and adhere to relevant standards and company policies.
