Job summary

Nutreco is seeking a Poultry Researcher focused on layers to join our El Viso de San Juan R&D centre. The role involves designing and leading multidisciplinary poultry studies, and translating findings into practical solutions for improved animal performance and welfare.

The successful candidate will work within a global R&D team, collaborating with universities and industry partners. A PhD in Poultry Science and ~10 years of nutrition research experience are required, with fluency in English

Responsibilities

• Design, lead and manage multidisciplinary poultry research projects from literature review to data analysis and reporting.

• Translate scientific discoveries into commercial products and solutions.
• Develop and implement innovative research methodologies and support research technicians.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate new research ideas and opportunities.

What You'll Do

• Designing, leading, and managing multidisciplinary poultry research projects, from literature review and protocol development to data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
• Driving research initiatives focused on poultry nutrition, gut health, performance, welfare, and sustainable production.
• Translating scientific discoveries into commercial products and solutions that create value for customers.
• Developing and implementing innovative research methodologies and supporting the development of research technicians.
• Collaborating closely with commercial, technical, and scientific teams to generate new research ideas and opportunities.
• Presenting research findings internally and externally at scientific conferences, industry events, and stakeholder meetings.
• Building and maintaining strategic partnerships with universities, research institutes, and industry organizations.
• Contributing to cross‑functional and international project teams within a matrix organization.

What You'll Bring

• PhD in Poultry Science, Animal Nutrition, or a related field.
• About 10 years of experience in nutrition research in one or more of the following areas: poultry, feed formulation, feed additives, gut health, microbiology...
• Experience managing research projects and translating scientific knowledge into practical applications.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Good understanding of the poultry industry and current market challenges.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
