The Senior Network Engineer at Roche leads and architects complex data center network solutions, spanning spine-leaf designs, EVPN-VXLAN, and large-scale migrations. You will influence technical strategy, manage stakeholders, and drive PoCs from concept to implementation in a highly regulated environment.

Working within Roche, you will collaborate with Enterprise Architects and Solution Owners to deliver resilient networks, ensuring availability and alignment with regulatory standards.

Formación

• Proven experience designing and operating modern data center network architectures
• Strong expertise in EVPN-VXLAN including BGP EVPN
• Experience planning and executing complex network migrations with minimal downtime
• Deep understanding of change management in mission-critical environments
• Hands-on experience with Arista EOS in production environments
• Experience with IaC for network deployments (Arista AVD) and automation
• Familiarity with version-controlled network operations and validation frameworks
• Strong troubleshooting across underlay and overlay networks (BGP, routing, fabric)

The Position

The Senior Network Engineer is a highly skilled expert responsible for solving complex business problems using advanced technologies within their specialized infrastructure area. In this role, you will technically lead challenging projects, make critical technical decisions, and architect resilient solutions across multiple domains. This position requires excellent problem-solving capabilities, strategic stakeholder management, and the ability to influence technical strategy, vendor relationships, and inter-organizational initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

• Scope / (Content Leadership): Highly skilled in a specific infrastructure solution area, adept at solving a variety of complex business problems through the practical and ingenious application of technologies. Contributes to and technically leads challenging projects requiring deep technical knowledge. Architect (acting as a solution architect), design, build, test, and implement integrated, resilient, and reliable first-time deployments in multiple solution areas. Accountable for decision-making in technical design, build, and testing
• Accountability/Problem Solving: Exercises sound judgment, balanced with effective consultative engagement of key stakeholders, to resolve complex problems. Works on complex issues where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors, including inter-organizational impact. Leads the end-to-end design of infrastructure solutions and maintains component standards. Evaluates promising solutions via Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and feasibility studies across multiple areas, and provides internal escalation support for major incidents
• Stakeholder Management: Communicates and presents complex information and potential solutions to cross-functional teams and the business in non-technical terms. Represents the organization as a prime contact on initiatives and interacts with senior internal and external personnel. Uses depth of knowledge to influence IT Infrastructure vendor product evaluations and collaborates with multiple IT partners (e.g., Enterprise Architects, Solution Owners) to integrate feedback
• Impact/Strategy: Leads small-to-medium sized technical teams to achieve objectives in medium-sized initiatives (projects, lifecycle work, PoCs). Ensures solutions comply with Quality/Regulatory standards and that designs adhere to the organization’s Technical Architecture Framework (TAF) policies and directions. Assists in planning technology projects, estimating engineering resources, dependencies, risks, and timelines for successful delivery
• Complexity / (Product Size): Manages complex issues and variable factors spanning across different organizational boundaries. Coordinates multiple moving parts, dependencies, and inter-organizational impacts to deliver reliable infrastructure on medium-to-large initiatives
• Business / Technical ability: Applies extensive technical expertise, providing depth and breadth across many areas while acting as a recognized expert in one specific area. Maintains in-depth knowledge in at least two technology areas (e.g., Platform, Compute and Storage, Network Management, ERP Technology Management, High Performance Computing, Datacenter Management, or Database Management). Demonstrates a detailed understanding of how IT infrastructure impacts respective Roche business processes

Qualifications

Education / Experience

• Proven experience designing and operating modern data center network architectures, including spine-leaf topologies and large-scale L2/L3 fabrics
• Strong expertise in data center virtualization technologies, specifically EVPN-VXLAN, including control plane design (BGP EVPN), multi-tenancy, and scalable overlay networking
• Demonstrated experience planning and executing complex network migrations, including brownfield-to-greenfield transitions, with minimal downtime and robust rollback strategies
• Deep understanding of change management processes in mission-critical environments, ensuring high availability and operational stability during deployments
• Hands-on experience with Arista EOS, including configuration, troubleshooting, automation, and lifecycle management in production environments
• Experience with network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Arista AVD, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines to enable repeatable, scalable, and reliable network deployments
• Familiarity with version-controlled network operations, automated testing, and validation frameworks to ensure consistency across environments
• Strong troubleshooting skills across underlay and overlay networks, including BGP, routing convergence, and fabric-level fault isolation

Technical / Business Skills

• Extensive technical expertise with in-depth knowledge in at least two specific IT infrastructure technology areas (e.g., Compute and Storage, Network Management, High Performance Computing, etc.)
• Detailed understanding of business processes and how they are impacted by IT infrastructure
• Proven experience applying best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service environment utilizing Scrum and Agile methodologies
• Deep understanding of Technical Architecture Frameworks (TAF) and Quality/Regulatory compliance standards

• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment in highly complex situations
• Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of translating complex technical issues into non-technical terms for business leaders
• Demonstrated ability to influence vendor product evaluations and recommend technical improvements
