Alexion is seeking a Senior Manager, Medical Affairs Systems, Data & Analytics to lead analytics, CRM operations and data product management across EUCAN, International & Japan. You will bridge stakeholders and IT, driving data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.

You will ensure compliant, scalable solutions, oversee AI-enabled initiatives and coordinate cross‑functional programs with regional teams and vendors. This hybrid role combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution.

Location: Barcelona - Spain (3 days working from the office and 2 days working from home)

This is what you will do:

The Senior Manager, Medical Affairs Systems, Data & Analytics, EUCAN, International & Japan will drive operational excellence across Medical Affairs by connecting business needs, systems operations, data products, analytics and data governance.

This role combines program and project management with hands‑on operational ownership of Medical Affairs systems, data and reporting capabilities. CRM will be a core area of responsibility, including platform support, troubleshooting, user administration, territory alignment, data integrity and continuous improvement. The role will also support other Medical Affairs systems and capabilities as regional and business needs evolve.

Acting as a bridge between Medical Affairs stakeholders and technical teams, the role will translate business needs into requirements, coordinate solution delivery and continuously improve the end‑user experience. The position will partner with country and regional Medical Affairs teams, Commercial Operations, Field Excellence, Medical Affairs IT, enterprise data teams and external vendors.

You will be responsible for:

1. Medical Affairs Analytics and Visualisation

Manage Medical Affairs reporting and analytics capabilities, ensuring that data is translated into clear insights that support operational and strategic decision‑making.

• Manage and elevate dashboards and reporting across EUCAN, International & Japan, including medical activity and field medical performance reporting.
• Partner with stakeholders to define KPIs, reporting requirements, business rules and common definitions.
• Coordinate the development and adoption of dashboards and self‑service analytics, including Power BI and other approved platforms.
• Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, fit for purpose and aligned with regional and country decision‑making needs.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and automate reporting and reduce duplication through the reuse of trusted data and analytical assets.

2. Medical Affairs Systems and CRM Operations

Provide hands‑on operational ownership and business support for Medical Affairs systems, with primary responsibility for CRM platforms and their connected capabilities.

• Manage CRM troubleshooting, issue triage and user support, coordinating resolution with technical teams and vendors.
• Oversee CRM operational activities, including user onboarding and offboarding, access and role changes, territory alignment, hierarchy maintenance and data reconciliation.
• Support Veeva CRM, Veeva Align, Veeva Link, Veeva Network and other Medical Affairs systems and reporting solutions.
• Support the effective integration and flow of data between CRM, analytics platforms and other relevant Medical Affairs systems.
• Monitor recurring system, process and data issues, identify root causes and coordinate sustainable solutions.
• Maintain operational documentation, guidance materials and communications to support users and business continuity.
• Contribute to the evaluation, implementation and continuous improvement of Medical Affairs systems beyond CRM as business needs evolve.

3. Business Analysis, AI and Solution Delivery

Translate Medical Affairs needs into scalable data‑driven solutions, looking beyond existing tools and processes to identify opportunities enabled by automation, advanced analytics and AI.

• Engage regional and country stakeholders to understand business objectives, operational challenges and reporting or system needs.
• Apply a data‑driven and AI‑aware mindset to identify opportunities to simplify workflows, improve decision‑making and create new Medical Affairs capabilities. Translate business needs into structured requirements, user stories, process flows, configuration specifications and acceptance criteria.
• Support business framing, impact assessments, fit‑gap analysis and prioritisation for new capabilities and enhancements.
• Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), business validation, release readiness, training and communications.
• Ensure that delivered solutions are documented, traceable and aligned with agreed business requirements and applicable privacy, compliance and responsible AI‑standards.
• Act as the bridge between Medical Affairs stakeholders, IT, data teams and external vendors throughout design and delivery.

4. Data Governance and Data Product Management

Support trusted, reusable and appropriately governed Medical Affairs data and analytical products.

• Manage assigned data products across their lifecycle, including requirements, roadmap, backlog, delivery, adoption and continuous improvement.
• Embed data management best practices, FAIR principles, data quality frameworks and medallion architecture principles into the design and lifecycle management of Medical Affairs data products.
• Operationalise relevant data‑governance practices for priority Medical Affairs data, including ownership, stewardship, data quality, metadata, business definitions, lineage, privacy and compliance.
• Coordinate the identification and resolution of data‑quality issues and support the implementation of appropriate rules and controls.
• Apply a data‑as‑a‑product mindset to Medical Affairs datasets, dashboards and analytical solutions.
• Manage assigned data products across their lifecycle, including requirements, roadmap, backlog, delivery, adoption and continuous improvement.
• Partner with data owners, IT, data engineers and analytics teams to ensure data products are documented, reusable and aligned with enterprise standards.
• Monitor product adoption, data quality and user feedback to prioritise enhancements and maintain long‑term value.
• Support the readiness of Medical Affairs data for approved analytics, AI and GenAI use cases.

5. Program Management and Continuous Improvement

Coordinate cross‑functional delivery and promote scalable, compliant and efficient ways of working across the region.

• Manage Medical Affairs data, CRM and operational‑excellence initiatives, defining scope, timelines, deliverables, dependencies and governance.
• Maintain close contact with country teams to understand operational needs and identify opportunities for harmonisation and scalability.
• Monitor project progress, risks and dependencies, escalating material concerns and proposing actionable solutions.
• Coordinate stakeholders across regional, country, global and technical teams, ensuring effective communication and follow‑through.
• Ensure that assigned activities comply with applicable Medical Affairs standards, policies and regulatory requirements.
• Identify practical opportunities to simplify workflows, strengthen data quality and responsibly leverage automation, AI and GenAI.

You will need to have:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in life sciences, data science, information systems, business or another relevant discipline.
• Relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare technology or another regulated industry.
• Hands‑on experience with Veeva CRM and its integrations with data warehouses or enterprise data platforms, ideally Snowflake.
• AI‑related certification or demonstrable success leading AI, GenAI, advanced analytics or intelligent automation projects.
• Strong understanding of data‑product principles and lifecycle management.
• Experience translating business needs into requirements and working effectively across business and technical teams.
• Strong project management, problem‑solving, stakeholder‑management and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex, cross‑functional and international environment.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

We would prefer for you to have

• Experience with Medical Affairs data and operating models.
• Hands‑on experience designing, building or delivering data products in partnership with business and technical teams.
• Working knowledge of SQL or other relevant programming and data‑query languages.
• Experience with additional CRM and Medical Affairs platforms such as Salesforce, Veeva Align, Veeva Link or comparable systems
• Experience with Master Data Management solutions, Power Bi or comparable analytics platforms.
• Knowledge of data governance, FAIR principles, data‑quality frameworks and medallion arquitecture.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery, AI‑ready data or responsible‑AI principles.
• Relevant project management, CRM, analytics or data‑management certification.
