Senior Lead Software Engineer

Global Engineering Team (Madrid, Malaga, Spain) Reports to : Engineering Manager

Salary - 85,000 EUROS

Summary

We are looking for a Senior Lead Software Engineer to join our global engineering team. This role is for an experienced full-stack developer who thrives on building applications at scale, leading by example, and mentoring others in engineering best practices. You will play a central role in designing, developing, and enhancing in-house tools that support our global business, working with modern technologies across cloud, automation, and distributed systems.

While knowledge of security engineering is a bonus, this position is primarily focused on software engineering excellence. We are seeking someone with the technical maturity, leadership qualities, and passion for engineering who can set the standard for the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a lead developer for in-house engineering tools, guiding teammates on design, testing, code reviews, and best practices.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable applications and APIs, ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to integrate and deliver solutions that support global operations.
• Provide hands‑on mentoring, fostering knowledge sharing and helping junior engineers grow their skills.
• Drive adoption of automation, infrastructure-as-code, and CI / CD practices to increase efficiency and consistency.
• Contribute to incident investigations when needed and play a role in improving system resilience.
• Maintain clear documentation for tools and systems, ensuring solutions are accessible and scalable for the wider business.
• Continuously research and apply new technologies and practices that raise the overall engineering bar.

Tech Stack

• Languages & Frameworks: Java (Spring Boot), Python, JavaScript (React.js, Node.js)
• APIs & Integration: REST APIs, microservices
• Infrastructure & Automation: Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, Helm
• CI / CD & Tooling: Git-based pipelines, containerised services, automation frameworks
• 5+ years of full-stack development experience, with strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot) and exposure to Python and / or JavaScript.
• Proven track record across the full software development lifecycle – requirements, design, build, testing, deployment, and support.
• Hands‑on experience building and deploying services in Kubernetes-based environments.
• Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
• Strong grounding in software engineering principles – clean code, design patterns, modularity, and performance optimisation.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to debug complex systems.
