ERNI is seeking a senior Java backend engineer to transform AI-driven prototypes into scalable, production-ready enterprise applications. You will work with Spring and Spring AI, implement new features, and ensure code quality through tested, maintainable software, while collaborating with international teams.

The role emphasizes autonomy, mentorship opportunities, and ongoing professional growth within a hybrid working model in Spain, with exposure to diverse pharma AI projects.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in Java backend development with Spring framework.

Can you imagine transforming AI prototypes into scalable enterprise applications for the pharmaceutical sector?

Join our expert team to work on innovative solutions in the Pharma sector, contributing to the development and evolution of AI-enabled enterprise applications. You will apply your knowledge of Java, Spring and Spring AI to transform existing prototypes into scalable, maintainable and production-ready solutions, following software engineering best practices and collaborating with international technical teams.

What you will bring

• Strong experience in Java backend development and the Spring ecosystem, with solid knowledge of modern software development practices.
• Knowledge of Spring AI and AI-enabled applications, including the integration of AI capabilities, tools or agents.
• Solid understanding of SOLID principles, Clean Code, Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Design Patterns, with a strong focus on writing maintainable, testable and high-quality code.
• Experience designing and developing scalable enterprise applications, applying software architecture principles and ensuring long-term maintainability.
• Experience with CI/CD practices and automated software delivery, supporting reliable deployment and continuous integration.
• Familiarity with Vaadin, React or JavaScript is a plus, but previous experience with these technologies is not required.

You will be responsible for transforming existing AI-driven prototypes into scalable, production-ready enterprise applications using Java, Spring and Spring AI, implementing new functionalities, ensuring code quality through software engineering best practices, integrating automated testing and CI/CD processes, and collaborating with architects and international development teams to deliver reliable, maintainable solutions.

Our working model

Our model is hybrid: we usually go to the office 2 days a week, though this depends on the project and team, but we love seeing each other’s faces; the best stories always happen in the office!
