Giesecke+Devrient is seeking a Senior Java Automation Developer for the Digital Euro project in Sant Joan Despí. Hybrid work model with 2 days onsite.

You will design and implement automation frameworks for cloud-native Java microservices, APIs and security-critical functions, collaborating with backend, DevOps and security teams to ensure fast, reliable and maintainable automated testing throughout the development lifecycle. Experience with cryptography is a plus but not required.

Formación

• 5+ years of Java development or test automation experience.
• Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot skills.
• Solid understanding of microservices and REST APIs.
• Experience building automated test frameworks or test suites.
• Strong experience with API testing and integration testing.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with Agile/Scrum environments.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Curious, adaptable and proactive mindset.

Digital Euro Project | Test Automation & Microservices

Location: Sant Joan Despí, Barcelona

Work Model: Hybrid – 2 days/week onsite

About the Project

Join a team working on one of G+D's strategic projects in digital payments: the Digital Euro.

G+D has been selected by the European Central Bank (ECB) as the first-ranked provider for the Digital Euro offline solution, contributing to the development of a key component of the future digital euro infrastructure.

Within this project, you will work on a specialized Trusted Service Manager (TSM) platform, helping ensure that its backend services are secure, reliable and thoroughly tested.

The core architecture and initial product are already in place. The team is now focused on expanding the platform with new features and building robust automation around it.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Java Automation Developer with strong Java development skills and a passion for test automation.

You will design and develop automation frameworks and automated test solutions for cloud-native Java microservices, APIs and security-critical functionality.

This is a hands‑on role where you will work closely with backend developers, DevOps and security teams to build fast, reliable and maintainable automated testing throughout the development lifecycle.

We are particularly interested in someone who is curious, adaptable and a fast learner. Experience with cryptography is a plus, but it is not required.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop test automation frameworks for Java/Spring microservices.
• Build automated API, integration and end-to-end tests.
• Automate testing of REST and OpenAPI services, including API and contract validation.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop and maintain automation running in Docker and Kubernetes environments.
• Contribute to security testing, including API security and vulnerability testing.
• Support automated validation of security‑critical and cryptographic workflows.
• Apply TDD, BDD and other modern testing practices.
• Improve test coverage, reliability and feedback speed across the development lifecycle.
• Contribute to test reporting, logging and observability.
• Work closely with backend developers, DevOps, QA and security teams.
• Take ownership of automation initiatives and continuously improve testing strategies.

What We're Looking For

Must-have

• 5+ years of experience in Java development, test automation or a closely related role.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Solid understanding of microservices and REST APIs.
• Experience building automated test frameworks or test suites.
• Strong experience with API testing and integration testing.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• A curious, adaptable and proactive mindset.

Nice to have

• Experience with MongoDB.
• Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger and contract testing.
• Knowledge of DAST, SAST or fuzz testing.
• Experience with TDD and BDD.
• Knowledge of cryptography, PKI or X.509 certificates.
• Experience with Jenkins, GitLab/GitHub, Maven or SonarQube.
• Experience testing high‑availability distributed systems.
• Experience in payments, financial services or digital identity.
• Spanish language skills.
