Job summary

Octopus Energy in Spain is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to own frontend architecture, deliver high‑impact features, and scale customer portals. You’ll collaborate with international teams across Europe and work mainly in TypeScript/React within a fast‑paced, evolving environment.

You’ll be hands‑on with Next.js, GraphQL, and CSS‑in‑JS, and you’ll have the option to explore backend areas like Python/Django. Hybrid Barcelona or Valencia.

Qualifications

• Strong, proven experience as a Senior Frontend Engineer with modern frontend architecture.
• Deep expertise in TypeScript and React.
• Hands-on experience with Next.js, ideally hosted on Vercel.
• Experience working with GraphQL as a data layer.
• Comfort with CSS-in-JS solutions (PandaCSS is a plus).
• Solid testing practices using Vitest, React Testing Library, and Playwright.
• Experience working within a monorepo structure.
• A flexible, collaborative mindset and comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate internationally: Work closely with Octopus Energy ES and various global teams to develop and integrate new features.
• Own key product modules: Contribute directly to the private area, bill management, saving sessions, onboarding optimization, and marketing dashboards, all from a frontend perspective.
• Drive fast-paced impact: Deliver code that directly impacts customers. Our priorities adapt to real-world needs, meaning the pace is fast and the feedback cycle is satisfyingly quick.
