Job summary

UL Solutions is hiring a Senior Electrical Laboratory Technician for our Madrid Getafe lab to handle electrical testing in line with grid code and safety standards for power electronics and converters.

You will install/disassemble test setups, read schematics, operate instruments such as oscilloscopes and power analyzers, and report data to engineers. Travel to customer sites for witness testing up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Technical High School graduate in electrical field.
• 3–5 years of laboratory testing experience preferred with test equipment like oscilloscope and power analyzer.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation.
• Fluent in Spanish; basic or good English (B2) is an advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Effective communication skills in customer interactions and team environment.
• Willingness to travel for witness testing up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Support the testing process by examining samples, reading blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams, and using measurement instruments.
• Install and disassemble devices on the test bench.
• Evaluate test performance and review data with supervisor.
• Build/adapt setup and test equipment based on datasheets and engineering instructions.
• Operate designated machines and lab equipment under safety standards.
• Report data to internal stakeholders in Engineering and others.
• Assist Engineers in client communications during setup/test to discuss results.

We are excited to announce that we have just opened a Senior Electrical Laboratory Technician position who will be supporting our local laboratory on site in Madrid (Getafe) in handling electrical testing in accordance with relevant grid code and safety standards for power electronics and power converters.

Responsibilities:

• Support the testing process in UL Laboratory by examining test samples, reading blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams, measuring instruments and operational instructions.
• Installation and disassembly of devices on the test bench.
• Support the evaluation of test performance (within UL and non-UL scheme) and review test and construction data with supervisor.
• Build and/or adapt setup and test equipment based on data sheets and instructions from Engineering department.
• Operate designated machines and special laboratory test equipment under safety standards consideration.
• Report data in form of data sheets to internal stakeholders in Engineering and other laboratory staff based on the instructions received.
• Support Engineers in communication with clients during the setup and performance of a test to demonstrate equipment test methods and/or to discuss test results.

Qualifications:

• Technical High School (preferably: Electrical field).
• Around 3-5 years of laboratory testing experience would be preferred (working with test equipment like oscilloscope, power analyzer etc.), ideally with experience in Power Electronics testing of power converters, inverters, etc.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation.
• Fluent in the Spanish language; basic or good command of spoken and written English (B2) is an advantage.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite is a must.
• Effective communication skills in customer interactions.
• Affinity to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Willingness to travel for witness testing at our customer's site (up to 10%).
