A leading pet services platform in Barcelona is seeking a Data Engineer to lead cross-team data projects and ensure reliable data pipelines. The ideal candidate will have over 6 years of experience in data engineering, proficiency in Python and SQL, and a passion for mentoring. This role offers competitive compensation, a permanent contract, generous PTO, and hybrid work conditions.

Formación

• 6+ years of data engineering, software engineering, data science, or other relevant experience.
• Expertise in Python and SQL with a passion for writing high‑quality code.
• Experience designing and deploying highly performant data pipelines.
• Strong data governance, modeling, automated testing, and monitoring practices.
• Experience mentoring teammates and sharing knowledge.
• Experience with Python, DBT, Dagster, Redshift, Docker, Kafka, Kubernetes, Terraform in stack.

Responsabilidades

• Lead cross team data projects to ensure reliable, efficient, and testable pipelines.
• Communicate across team boundaries to establish data architecture.
• Deliver well-defined DBT models and ETL pipelines.
• Mentor engineers to develop their technical skills.
• Build self-service tools for engineers, data scientists and analysts to gain insights.
• Identify inefficiencies in Rover’s Data Platform and inform roadmap priorities.

This role provides relocation assistance to Barcelona. This role is permanent/full‑time and hybrid - Mondays & Thursdays in our office in Poblenou in Barcelona.

Data Engineering at Rover

Data powers everything at Rover. Our team works closely with all parts of the organization to ensure that the data the business relies on is fresh, accurate, and reliable and that our reporting infrastructure meets the needs of everyone from analysts to the C‑suite. Do you want to help modernize our Data Platform by contributing to our ETL tooling? Perhaps you're passionate about working with folks all throughout the business from Product to Data Science. We own all things data‑related at Rover, from the data ingestion to analytics infrastructure and tooling, which means you'll get the chance to work on exciting and impactful projects and learn a ton along the way.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead cross team data projects to ensure our pipelines are reliable, efficient, and testable
• Communicate efficiently across team boundaries to establish overarching data architecture, and provide guidance to individual teams
• Deliver well‑defined, transformed, tested, documented, and code‑reviewed DBT models and ETL pipelines
• Mentor fellow Engineers to help develop and grow their technical skills
• Build self‑service tools that empower engineers, data scientists, and analysts to quickly get key business insights
• Understand our Rover’s data needs and identify inefficiencies in the Data Platform to help prioritize and inform our team's roadmap

Your Qualifications

• 6+ years of data engineering, software engineering, data science, or other relevant experience
• Expertise in Python and SQL with a passion for writing high‑quality code
• Experience designing and deploying highly performant data pipelines with reliable monitoring and logging practices
• Proven track record of exercising data engineering best practices around data governance, data modeling, automated testing, and monitoring
• Experience and enthusiasm for mentoring teammates, providing technical feedback, and sharing knowledge with others
• Expertise with the majority of our tech stack: Python, DBT, Dagster, Redshift, Docker, Kafka, Kubernetes, Terraform
