You’ll join the Seeker segment and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other specialists across multiple teams to shape the next generation of our platform.

  • Advanced SQL: CTEs, window functions, query optimization over large volumes.
  • Experience with transformation frameworks like dbt.
  • Data modeling: dimensional, Data Vault, or both.
  • Familiarity with modern data architectures: lakehouse, medallion, ELT.
  • Python or JVM (Java/Kotlin) for pipeline or data service development.

  • Define and enforce data governance practices: ownership, lineage, asset cataloging, naming standards, and quality policies.
  • Integrate heterogeneous sources (APIs, relational databases, events) by designing clear data contracts between teams.
  • Collaborate with product and backend teams to understand data needs and translate into robust models and pipelines.
  • Document from day one: modeling decisions, contracts, standards.

The challenge

We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to rebuild the data layer of one of idealistas core verticals from the ground up. This isnt maintenance work: it means redesigning data models, analytics, domain objects, and integrations on a modern architecture. Youll work within an established team, with real technical ownership over data decisions.

About the team

You’ll join the Seeker segment, a group of multidisciplinary teams working together to shape one of idealistas most strategic products. Your day-to-day will involve close collaboration with engineers, product managers, and other specialists across multiple teams, contributing to shared technical decisions and driving initiatives that go beyond the scope of a single squad. Together, youll help build the next generation of our platform, with the scale, ambition, and impact of one of Europes leading proptech companies.

What you’ll do
  • Redesign the verticals data model: entities, relationships, events, and metrics. Think in terms of domain, not just tables.
  • Design and implement ingestion, transformation, and serving pipelines using dbt and columnar/OLAP databases.
  • Define and enforce data governance practices: ownership, lineage, asset cataloging, naming standards, and quality policies (freshness, completeness, accuracy).
  • Integrate heterogeneous sources (APIs, relational databases, events) by designing clear data contracts between teams.
  • Collaborate with product and backend teams to understand what data they need and why, and translate that into robust models and pipelines.
  • Document from day one: modeling decisions, contracts, standards.
What you need
  • Advanced SQL: CTEs, window functions, query optimization over large volumes. This is your primary tool.
  • Experience with transformation frameworks like dbt or equivalent.
  • Data modeling: dimensional, Data Vault, or both. You can articulate when to use which approach.
  • Familiarity with modern data architectures: lakehouse, medallion, ELT. You understand the "why", not just the "how".
  • Python or JVM (Java/Kotlin) for pipeline or data service development.
  • Git and comfort with the command line.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
  • Experience working alongside product/backend teams, not only within data silos.
Nice to have
  • Experience with ClickHouse or other columnar/OLAP databases.
  • Familiarity with Oracle as an operational database.
  • Experience with object storage (S3 or equivalent).
  • Hands-on use of metadata catalog tools such as DataHub or similar.
  • Experience with data observability tools and practices.Event-driven architectures (Kafka or equivalent).
  • Domain knowledge in marketplaces or real estate.
Skills we value
  • You know how to do technical discovery with business and product stakeholders: understanding what they need and why, not just taking requirements at face value.
  • You communicate modeling decisions to non-technical audiences without losing rigor.
  • You spot repetitive tasks and automate them.
  • You have a documentation mindset: if its not written down, it doesnt exist.
What we offer

This is a fully remote position, but if you enjoy working from the office, youll always be welcome at our headquarters in the heart of Madrid or at one of our collaborative workspaces.

You’ll keep learning—we mean it. Our platform is constantly evolving, generating plenty of opportunities for internal tech talks, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Well support your professional growth with the training you need to continue developing your skills.

We’re active members of the tech community: we sponsor events, attend conferences, and regularly host meetups in our offices. We believe learning is important, but sharing knowledge with others is just as valuable.

In addition to your salary, youll have access to a flexible compensation plan from day one, including benefits such as public transport, meal vouchers, and private health insurance.

Free language classes in English, Italian, and Portuguese.

Your wellbeing matters to us. Thats why we offer a comprehensive wellness package, including physiotherapy, yoga, and psychotherapy sessions.

We also know that work is about more than just delivering great products. Throughout the year, we celebrate together with themed events, seasonal parties, and plenty of opportunities to connect with your colleagues.

Regular team-building activities—and much more!

And something more about us…

Since we began this adventure in the year 2000, idealista has been much more than a company. It is a culture, a way of doing and understanding things that sets us apart. Respect, tolerance, integrity, and transparency are part of our DNA.
