Job summary

Wood is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its Process & Chemicals group in Madrid on a hybrid basis. You will work on structural and civil design for oil and gas projects, including foundations, earthworks and steel structures, interfacing with multi-disciplinary teams for international clients.

The role requires a civil engineering degree, 10 years of oil and gas design experience, fluency in Spanish and English, and a valid work permit for Spain.

Qualifications

• BSc (Civil Engineering) or BEng (Civil).
• Ten years relevant experience in oil and gas projects (design and calculation).
• Excellent command of Spanish and English languages.
• Knowledge of Spanish and international standards and codes (EHE, CTE, EAE, EuroCodes, AISC, ACI, etc.).
• Advanced user of StaadPro, Staad Foundation, Sap2000, IDEA Statica and MS Office.
• Holding a valid permit to live and work in Spain is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural and civil calculations including foundations, piling, earthworks, retaining walls, and steel structures.
• Interpret geotechnical reports.
• Prepare contract requisitions for civil and structural work on assigned projects.
• Prepare job specifications for civil and structural work on assigned projects.
• Check, comment on and approve steel shop drawings.
• Check, comment on and approve precast concrete shop drawings; coordinate with civil/structural team.
• Ensure civil/structural works meet project specifications.
• Identify circumstances likely to change contracts and estimate man-hours.
• Advise the Leader Civil Engineer and Engineering Manager on slippage and actions.
• Liaise with specialist consultants and address site queries during construction.
• Carry out periodic inspection of civil and structural work during construction and issue completion certificates.
• Keep abreast of developments in the civil and structural engineering field.
• Perform duties as assigned by the Leader Civil Engineer and Engineering Manager.
