Summary of Role & Key Responsibilities
The Senior Business Consultant is responsible for ensuring the successful execution and profitability of key client projects. This role centers on building strong, trusted relationships, demonstrating commercial acumen, and translating client needs into effective strategic and creative briefs. The consultant acts as the critical link, owning the agency process to deliver high-quality work that meets client objectives and drives revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Relationship Management: Actively foster strong, trusted relationships internally, with clients, and with external partners. Understand client needs deeply and translate them into clear, concise proposals and internal briefs.
- Commerciality: Demonstrate entrepreneurial thinking by actively looking for opportunities to expand or extend existing client projects. Manage budgets effectively to ensure account profitability. Write small to medium Scopes of Work (SOWs) and ensure all finance needs are met throughout the project (including opening Job Numbers, raising estimates, and securing Purchase Orders from the client).
- Strategy & Consultation: Understand and clearly articulate the agency’s strategic offers, products, and frameworks (e.g., sustainable comms strategy) to clients. Write smaller project and task briefs, provide guidance on strategy, creative, and design development, and ensure all developed work meets defined client objectives.
- Project Leadership: Ensure the smooth running of projects by owning and driving the agency process. Lead the delivery and execution of campaigns from planning to final execution, ensuring high standards every time.
- Problem Solving: Quickly and proactively resolve client and/or internal project issues with a can-do attitude, minimizing friction and delays.
- Knowledge: Stay abreast of relevant news relating to clients and their peers to inform strategic discussions.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Relationships: Strong, trusted relationship management is essential. Ability to build rapport and handle complex communications with senior clients and cross-functional teams.
- Commercial Acumen: A clear awareness of project and account profitability. Proven ability to write small to medium SOWs and manage project financials, contributing to the timely pursuit of new revenue.
- Strategic Thinking: Being able to understand, contribute to, and articulate strategic discussions and decision-making, ensuring work is aligned with broader client goals.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage project timelines, resources, and agency processes effectively to ensure high-quality delivery.
- Communication: Clear, concise, and effective communication with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Demonstrable ability to resolve client and/or internal project issues swiftly through proactivity.
- Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a client-facing role (e.g., Account/Project Management, Business Consulting) focused on strategy, delivery, and commercial outcomes.
