Parser Limited is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and deliver scalable backend services. You will work with TypeScript, Node.js, Go, and AWS, building high-throughput microservices and real-time data pipelines for an AI-enabled product.

You will design event-driven architectures, implement REST/gRPC APIs, and ensure robust observability. The role requires collaboration across teams and ownership of critical backend components in a fast-growing, globally distributed engineering

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance microservices and REST/gRPC APIs.
• Architect event-driven and asynchronous streaming workflows using Kafka, SQS/SNS, or similar systems.
• Model, optimize, and tune relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), OpenSearch, and Redis.
• Deploy, operate, and scale containerized applications on AWS using Kubernetes (EKS/ECS).
• Instrument services with observability tools (metrics, logging, tracing) to diagnose issues in LLM workflows.
• Establish clear service boundaries, documentation, and testing standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in incident response.

How will you impact?

Build the next generation of conversational AI experiences powered by real-time data, event-driven systems, and production LLM orchestration. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will own backend services powering a new conversational AI product. You'll design high-throughput microservices, build real-time event-driven pipelines, and integrate LLM-driven tool-calling capabilities to create responsive, scalable user experiences.

Your key responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance microservices and REST/gRPC APIs primarily using TypeScript (Node.js) and Go.
• Architect event-driven and asynchronous streaming workflows utilizing Kafka, SQS/SNS, or similar distributed systems.
• Model, optimize, and tune relational and search data stores, including PostgreSQL/MySQL, OpenSearch, and Redis.
• Deploy, operate, and scale containerized applications on AWS using Kubernetes (EKS/ECS).
• Instrument services with comprehensive observability tools (metrics, logging, distributed tracing) to diagnose non-deterministic behavior in LLM workflows.
• Establish clean service boundaries, system documentation, and sound unit/integration testing standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, make product-shaping technical judgment calls, and participate in incident response.
  

What you'll bring to the role:

Essential Requirements:

• Strong expertise in backend development with Node.js / TypeScript, along with proficiency or quick adaptability in Go.
• Proven track record designing microservices architecture, REST/gRPC APIs, and event-driven systems (Kafka, SQS/SNS).
• Deep experience with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and Redis caching.
• Production hands-on experience with AWS services and containerized deployments on Kubernetes.
• Solid background in production observability (metrics, tracing, logs), SLO management, and incident response.
• Proactive self-starter with strong communication skills and product instinct to operate effectively without rigid specifications.
  

Desirable Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with production LLM applications, including tool/function calling, context management, and caching.
• Practical experience debugging non-deterministic systems or AI-driven backend pipelines.

Location & Work Model:

Spain - Remote to Hybrid: Remote for the first 6 months, transitioning to hybrid with 2-3 days per week in our Madrid or Barcelona office.
