Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Architect to join the Buildings Unit and lead projects across Spain, the UK and Europe. You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, run projects autonomously, and ensure design and technical delivery meet regulatory standards.

The role offers hybrid working, opportunities to grow in a global consultancy, and a pathway to deliver ambitious, long-term architectural projects within a diverse portfolio.

Formación

• Qualified Spanish Architect with eligibility to practise in Spain (essential).
• Demonstrable post-qualification experience delivering projects.

About the business unit

The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.

Overview of the role

We are looking for a Senior Architect to join our growing architecture team. The architecture team is part of the Buildings Unit within Mott MacDonald and provides services across all project stages on a wide variety of projects.

We have a diverse portfolio of interesting projects in most building typologies where we work with clients across the UK, Europe and globally and cover all aspects of the project life-cycle. This is an exciting opportunity for an Architect to join our team, to work on long-term project opportunities while developing your own career. You'll be part of a growing architecture team, coordinating proactively with other engineering disciplines as well as running projects autonomously.

The successful candidate should be prepared to work principally on UK-based projects across a variety of sectors in the short to medium term, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across Spain, the UK and Ireland. As our portfolio of work in Spain continues to grow, the role is expected to evolve to include delivery of Spanish and wider European projects.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of Mott MacDonald's architecture business in Spain, while supporting the delivery of major projects across the UK and Europe.

Candidate specification

The ideal candidate will be degree qualified or equivalent in Architecture with work experience within an Architectural Studio, Engineering Consultancy or similar environment and have suitable experience of running projects as part of a team. The candidate will be creative and confident, with a keen eye for detail, possessing a good working technical knowledge base and able to demonstrate project-running experience, working as part of a multidisciplinary team whilst also coordinating with other design team members.

Essential:

• Qualified Spanish Architect with eligibility to practise in Spain
• Demonstrable post-qualification experience
• Ability to deliver projects from both a design and technical background
• Experience of project delivery, working to deadlines
• Experience of working with Revit and BIM
• Strong understanding of architectural design, technical delivery and multidisciplinary coordination
• Awareness of relevant technical legislation and guidance, including the Código Técnico de la Edificación (CTE), planning requirements and applicable European standards
• Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English
• Ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously

Desirable:

• Previous experience of working within the UK construction industry and familiarity with UK project delivery processes, standards and regulations would be beneficial but is not essential
• Transport sector project experience
• Membership of a recognised professional body (COA or equivalent)
