Aistech Space, based in Barcelona, seeks a Satellite Systems Engineer to lead a diverse team and drive the ENABLER payloads from design through operations. The role interfaces with suppliers, clients, and R&D, coordinating across missions and platforms to ensure high-quality imaging products.

You will work on-site at Sant Cugat, Barcelona, with six remote days per month, joining a passionate, international team and contributing to a fast-growing company.

Formación

  • BSc/MSc in Aerospace, Telecommunications or related field.
  • At least 2 years of satellite systems engineering experience.
  • Experience across full satellite mission cycle from design to operations.
  • Strong knowledge of satellite subsystems (power, comms, AOCS, propulsion, EO payloads).
  • Experience leading a technical team delivering a payload into orbit.
  • Experience with requirements analysis, architecture design, AIT and V&V.
  • Experience with environmental testing of space hardware (vibration, thermal vacuum, EMC).
  • Proficient in orbital dynamics, RF analysis, system budgets, end-to-end ops.
  • Fluent in English.

Responsabilidades

  • Research COTS technologies for the mission.
  • Define and maintain the mission schedule.
  • Propose process/tech improvements at business level.

The company is based in Barcelona and aims to revolutionize remote sensing for environmental monitoring and resource management.

What you will do:

Aistech Space is looking for a Satellite Systems Engineer to be part of the Space Infrastructure Team. The ideal candidate will bring systems engineering background and proven hands-on expertise from Phase 0 through Phase E.
This new position offers the opportunity to coordinate the interfacing between our ENABLER payloads with the new satellite platforms, as well as preparing the mission for daily operations in conjunction with the Ground and User infrastructure teams.
In this role, you are expected to deal with the different Aistech departments, suppliers, clients, R&D proposals, bureaucratic paperwork, launch plans and a long list of activities to push the company forward.
The main responsibility for this job position is leading technically a heterogeneous team of engineers/scientists/sw developers to deliver the next ENABLER payloads into orbit and ensure the best geometric and radiometric performance of the ENABLER payloads producing high-quality imaging products.

Key responsibilities:
  • Define mission CONOPS, system architectures, including computing system and subsystem budgets (power, data, link, pointing, etc.).
  • Capture, trace, and flow down mission-level requirements to system and subsystem specifications.
  • Perform system engineering activities across all project phases, from preliminary design through to commissioning and operations.
  • Perform system-level analysis, technical trade-offs (cost, risk, schedule, performance), and manage the mission technical risk matrix.
  • Preparation of project documentation and presentation materials for all phases of the mission.
  • Plan and support Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) activities, including environmental testing, verification, and system validation.
  • Support FMECA activities, and contribute to FDIR strategies.
  • Act as the primary technical interface for external stakeholders, supporting bid/tender activities, technical negotiations, and progress meetings.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain satellite mission models.
  • Research of COTS technologies and solutions from the space industry.
  • Define and maintain the mission technical schedule.
  • Propose new solutions to be applied into the company in order to improve processes and technologies at a business level
Who you are:
Must:
  • BSc/MSc in Aerospace, Telecommunications or relevant degree.
  • At least 2 years of experience in satellite systems engineering.
  • Proven experience in a full cycle of a satellite mission, from design phases until operations.
  • Strong knowledge of satellite subsystems: power, comms, AOCS, propulsion, EO payloads, etc.
  • Experience leading a team technically to deliver a payload into orbit.
  • Experience in systems engineering activities, covering requirements analysis, architecture design, AIT and V&V processes.
  • Experience in environmental testing of space hardware (vibration, acoustic, shock, thermal vacuum, EMC).
  • Knowledge in orbital dynamics, RF analysis, system budgets, and end-to-end satellite and ground operations.
  • Work ethic: Independent, proactive and an active learner.
  • Personality: Team player, extrovert and respectful with your colleagues
  • Fluent in English.
Nice to have:
  • Experience in any related projects with Thermal Payloads (MWIR, LWIR, etc).
  • Experience in STK, GMAT, MATLAB/SIMULINK or similar simulation SW packages.
  • Good knowledge of FMECA and FDIR design
  • Knowledge of thermal design and FEM analysis of a payload or satellite system.
  • Strong knowledge developing code in Python.
Where you will be:

You will be working on-site in the headquarters offices of Sant Cugat in Barcelona. You will have an allocation of 6 days per month of remote working as per the internal policies of Aistech.
