Airbus Defence and Space SAU in Getafe (Madrid) seeks a highly qualified SAR Performance Engineer to define, model, and optimize end-to-end SAR system performance from concept to mission operations. You will work within the Microwave Instrument Engineering Team on major international space programs, collaborating with RF, antenna, payload, and data processing teams.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, RF/Microwave Engineering, or Physics.
5–10 years of remote-sensing microwave instrument development experience, with SAR focus.
Deep command of SAR principles, radar performance metrics, end-to-end signal processing, and numerical modeling using Python, MATLAB, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

End-to-End Performance Modeling: develop models and simulators to predict SAR performance and allocate requirements.
Image Quality Evaluation & Budgets: monitor instrument-level budgets for metrics like NESZ, SNR, and ambiguity ratios.
System Architecture & Trade-Offs: perform trade-off analyses for orbit, bands, PRF, and antenna configurations.
Calibration & Processing Support: drive SAR processing chain verification and Cal/Val strategies.
AIT & V&V Integration: define and support AIT and V&V activities across tests.
Milestones & Technical Leadership: prepare performance docs and participate in SRR/PDR/CDR reviews.
