Job summary

AP Staffing seeks an experienced SAP S/4HANA Finance/Controlling functional specialist to support live operations for multiple business units. You will act as day-to-day contact for Local Process Owners, manage faults, and guide end users through testing and go-live.

Role is remote with travel to northern Italy about twice a month initially, through July 2027. You will drive cost accounting, standard costs, variances, and margin reporting, while keeping processes aligned with SAP standards and

Qualifications

• SAP S/4HANA Finance and Controlling expertise.
• Directly engages Local Process Owners.
• Experience supporting live users and handling faults/tickets.
• Plan acceptance testing; write scenarios; guide key users.
• Lead data/structure changes for new units; data migration.
• Lead cutover, go-live and hypercare activities.
• Product Costing, standard costs, variances, margins.
• Create user guides and deliver training.
• Fluent English; Italian is a plus.
• Willingness to travel to northern Italy ~2x monthly early on.

Responsibilities

• Onboard more units to S/4HANA: org structure, data, processes.
• Participate in cutover, go-live, and hypercare.
• Oversee Product Costing and management accounting.
• Run cost rolls, analyze variances, support margins.
• Align Controlling, Finance, Supply Chain, Ops reporting.
• Identify processes for simplification/automation.
• Push for common ways of working and SAP standards.
• Take on enhancement work and maintain docs.
• Train key users and drive adoption.

Duration: Until end of July 2027 as a first contract

Workload: Full time, 5 days per week

Travel Requirements: Remote, with travel to northern Italy around twice a month until the end of January 2027, less frequently after that

Context:

A functional specialist looking after SAP S/4HANA Finance and Controlling for the business units, keeping it running well and pushing it forward. A lot of the job is direct contact with the Local Process Owners, and the client wants someone who comes back with something workable rather than something theoretical.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the day to day point of contact for the Local Process Owners
• Handle functional queries from the units already running on the system
• Investigate FI and CO faults and see them through to a fix
• Own the ticket queue, chasing corrections with internal IT and outside suppliers
• Keep turnaround inside the service levels that have been agreed
• Plan the acceptance testing, write the scenarios, and sit with key users while they work through them
• Sign off fixes, enhancements and new releases before anything reaches production
• Work alongside the release and change process
• Bring further business units onto S/4HANA: set up their org structure, move their data over, prove the processes hold
• Be part of the cutover, the go-live itself and hypercare afterwards
• Look after Product Costing and the management accounting side, keeping standard costs right and updates clean
• Run and check cost rolls, work through variances, and support margin and profitability reporting
• Join up Controlling, Finance, Supply Chain and Operations so cost is visible and reported the same way everywhere
• Spot where a process could be simplified or automated
• Steer the units towards common ways of working and SAP standard where it fits
• Take on enhancement work as it comes up
• Keep user guides, procedures and functional documentation current
• Train key users and end users, and help the business actually adopt what gets delivered

Required profile:

• SAP S/4HANA Finance and Controlling functional expertise
• Used to dealing directly with Local Process Owners
• Looking after live business users, including fault analysis and ticket handling
• Planning acceptance testing, writing scenarios, guiding key users through them
• Taking new business units live on an existing system: org structure, data, process proving
• Cutover, go-live and hypercare
• Product Costing and management accounting, standard costs, cost rolls, variances, margin reporting
• Writing user guides and delivering training
• Comes back with workable answers rather than theory
• Fluent English, Italian an advantage
• Able to travel to northern Italy around twice a month early on
