SAP FICO Architect – S/4HANA Transformation Programme

Our client, a global consultancy, is seeking an experienced SAP FICO Architect to lead the finance design workstream on a major S/4HANA transformation programme delivered for one of their international clients. This is a senior, design-leadership role requiring 4 days per week onsite in Barcelona, working alongside programme leadership, solution architects, and business stakeholders to shape the overall finance solution.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end solution architecture for Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO) within the S/4HANA programme
• Lead fit-gap analysis, design authority, and blueprint workshops for finance, setting direction for the wider FICO team
• Define and govern the target operating model and system architecture for GL, AP, AR, Asset Accounting, Cost Centre Accounting, Profitability Analysis, and related areas
• Drive integration architecture with adjacent modules (MM, SD) and third-party finance systems, ensuring design consistency across the landscape
• Set the strategy and standards for finance data migration, working with the data migration lead on approach and quality
• Act as design authority through SIT/UAT, resolving architectural issues and approving deviations from blueprint
• Own cutover and hypercare architecture decisions for finance
• Serve as the senior finance point of contact for client stakeholders, programme leadership, and steering committees
• Mentor and provide technical direction to FICO consultants on the programme
• Produce and own architecture documentation, design authority records, and governance artefacts

Candidate Profile

• Proven track record as an SAP FICO Architect / Lead, with multiple full-cycle S/4HANA implementations including at least one in an architect or design authority capacity
• Deep, hands-on configuration expertise across FI/CO combined with strong solution design and governance experience
• Consulting background essential — confident operating at programme leadership level and influencing senior stakeholders
• Strong experience integrating with MM/SD and broader enterprise architecture
• Fluent English required; Spanish or Catalan a plus given the Barcelona-based team
• Available to work 4 days per week onsite in Barcelona; flexibility for the remaining day (remote
