Job description

Our team of engineers, scientists, and software developers explores the potential of Artificial Intelligence to solve some of the world's most challenging problems. We integrate machine learning, systems modeling, advanced control, and mathematical optimization to tackle complex engineering challenges. Our ultimate mission is to develop sustainable technologies that drive progress and contribute to the advancement of human development.

About The Position

We are looking for a passionate and analytical Researcher in Computational Biology & Bioinformatics to join our growing R&D team. In this role, you will be at the intersection of data science, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology, developing models that translate complex biological data into actionable, real-world solutions for industrial and environmental sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Genome-Scale Metabolic Modeling: Develop, curate, and validate genome-scale metabolic models; define objective functions (e.g., growth maximization), constrain metabolic fluxes, incorporate nutrient availability and cultivation conditions, and perform sensitivity and robustness analyses.
  • Algorithmic Development: Design, implement, and optimize algorithms and computational models to analyze complex biochemical and multi-omics datasets.
  • Experimental Design: Formulate and conduct computational experiments to test biological hypotheses and rigorously validate results.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with wet-lab scientists to seamlessly integrate experimental data with computational pipelines.
  • AI Integration: Contribute actively to the development and deployment of cutting-edge, AI-driven tools for advanced biological data interpretation.
  • Scientific Dissemination: Prepare project deliverables and technical reports for the European Commission, present findings at international conferences, and co-author manuscripts for high-impact scientific publications.
  • Continuous Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in bioinformatics, machine learning, and AI technologies to keep Idener at the forefront of the industry.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education: MSc (or equivalent) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Data Science, Biostatistics, or a related quantitative/life-science discipline.
  • A strong foundational understanding of biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, and genomics.
  • Proficiency in programming languages essential for data analysis (e.g., Python, R, or C++) and experience applying statistical analysis to biological problems.
  • Sharp analytical skills, critical thinking abilities, and a strong willingness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset tailored for multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and spoken English (working language for international projects).
What We Offer
  • Impactful Work: Opportunity to work on cutting-edge European Commission projects with a direct impact on sustainability and biotechnology.
  • Professional Growth: Continuous learning environment with access to the latest AI and bioinformatics tools.
  • Flexible Environment: Flexible working hours and options for hybrid work to promote work-life balance.
  • Collaborative Culture: A young, dynamic, and international team of scientists and engineers.
  • Career Path: Clear opportunities for professional advancement within the company’s R&D tracks.
