IMDEA Materials Institute invites applications for a Research Assistant position focused on fire-safe materials. The role emphasizes hands-on polymer processing, composites, and studying fire testing for high-performance materials in an international, multidisciplinary setting.
The successful candidate will develop research activity in materials science and engineering, with English as the working language, and may lead to opportunities in academia and industry.
IMDEA Materials Institute is a public research organization founded in 2007 by Madrid’s regional government to carry out research of excellence in Material Science and Engineering by attracting talent from all over the world to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment. IMDEA Materials has grown rapidly since its foundation and currently includes more than 120 researchers from 22 nationalities and has become one of the leading research centers in materials in Europe which has received the María de Maeztu seal of excellence from the Spanish government. The research activities have been focused on the areas of materials for transport, energy, and health care and the Institute has state-of-the-art facilities for processing, characterization and simulation of advanced materials.
In this study, the fellow will mainly focus on studying fire testing for new fire-retardant materials for advanced applications. In detail, the main research tasks include:
The candidate will acquire hands-on experience with polymer processing and composites. The candidate will gain experience in fundamental and applied research in materials science, engineering, and high-performance polymers, opening perspectives in academia and industry.
The first contract is for 3.5 months and might be extended after passing the evaluation.
