Job summary

AtSPDTechnology is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our team. You will architect and implement scalable backend services, define domain-driven architectural patterns, and guide cross-functional delivery teams across Europe and beyond.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, AI-assisted conformance checks, and communication with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders. Remote or hybrid work options are available across international locations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 years of software engineering with Java or similar OO language.
• At least 3 years building microservices and distributed/cloud-based systems.
• Knowledge of SOA, DDD, clean/hexagonal architectures and patterns.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and Kafka-based event-driven apps.
• Experience with GCP or AWS and container orchestration.
• Strong problem solving and cross-team technical leadership.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with engineers and product partners.

Responsibilities

• Solve strategic engineering problems, prototype, and produce reference implementations.
• Design and deliver working software including backend services and frontend concerns.
• Automate architectural conformance with AI-based checks and fitness functions.
• Turn ambiguous problems into bounded, executable actions using domain-driven design.
• Define measurable quality goals for performance, reliability, security, and scalability.
• Document architecture evolution with state, transitions, constraints and decisions.
• Make explicit tradeoffs and provide balanced recommendations on build vs buy.
• Create reusable patterns and platform capabilities for teams to adopt.
• Guide delivery teams through design reviews and key technical decisions.
• Communicate technical context clearly to diverse stakeholders.
