Job summary

Mindrift is seeking to engage remote, freelance data science problem designers. You will craft real-world analytical challenges using Python and standard libraries, spanning data ingestion, cleaning, EDA, modeling, validation and deployment considerations.

Applicants should have 5+ years of experience, a master’s/PhD, and a portfolio of projects/publications. This role is fully remote with flexible hours and international collaboration opportunities.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field.
• 5+ years of hands-on data science experience with proven business impact.
• Portfolio of completed projects and publications showing real-world problem-solving.
• Proficient in python programming for data science (pandas, numpy, scipy, sklearn, statsmodels).
• Proficient in SQL and database operations for data manipulation and analysis.
• Experience with GenAI technologies (LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, vector databases).
• Knowledge of modern frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain).
• Advanced English (C1) or above.

Responsibilities

• Design original computational data science problems simulating real-world analytical workflows.
• Create problems requiring Python programming to solve using standard libraries.
• Ensure problems are computationally intensive and not solvable manually within days/weeks.
• Develop problems with non-trivial reasoning in data processing, modeling and insight extraction.
• Create deterministic problems with reproducible answers and fixed seeds where needed.
• Base problems on real business challenges across multiple industries.
• Design end-to-end problems spanning data ingestion to deployment considerations.
• Incorporate big data processing scenarios needing scalable approaches.
• Verify solutions using Python and statistical methods.
• Document statements clearly with realistic business contexts and verified answers.
