Job summary

Smiths Group in Spain is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Regional Engineering team. You will evaluate customer applications, select appropriate seals, pumps and related equipment, and prepare CAD drawings and technical proposals for international collaborations.

Ideal candidates understand rotating equipment, hydraulic systems and have strong CAD skills (Solid Edge/ SolidWorks). English and Spanish fluency are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Mechanical preferred, Chemical considered.
• Knowledge of rotating equipment, seals, pumps, compressors or hydraulics.
• Experience with mechanical seals, pumps or related equipment in process industries is valuable.
• CAD skills in Solid Edge or SolidWorks; familiarity with FEA/CFD.
• Able to interpret technical drawings and translate customer needs into engineering solutions.
• Fluent English and Spanish, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Review and process customer applications and engineering projects.
• Select suitable John Crane products including seals, couplings and filtration.
• Prepare engineering proposals, specs and CAD documentation.
• Perform calculations on seal leakage, heat, balancing temps, flow rates for rotating equipment.
• Prepare drawings and collaborate with designers on GA and detailed drawings.
• Support investigations, failure analysis, troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Review non-conforming parts and decisions on acceptance or rejection.
• Deliver technical presentations to customers with the Sales team.
• Participate in retrofit projects, 3D scanning and training activities.
• Collaborate with global teams and contribute to continuous improvement.
