PLD Space in Elche, Spain is seeking a Radio Frequency Engineer to join the Avionics Team and contribute to the design, testing and integration of RF and communications systems for launch vehicles.

You will perform RF measurements, analyze data, and support the development of the RF architecture for the vehicle and ground segments, collaborating across engineering disciplines in a fast-paced space environment.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Fluent in English and/or Spanish, both written and spoken.
• Basic knowledge of RF systems and radio-frequency measurement principles.
• Experience with RF lab equipment: spectrum analyzers, VNAs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and power meters.
• Understanding of RF fundamentals: transmission lines, antennas, gain, losses and impedance matching.

Responsabilidades

• Define, prepare and execute RF test campaigns at unit, subsystem and system level with procedures and verification evidence.
• Perform RF measurements, data analysis and troubleshooting using RF lab equipment.
• Support RF architecture for launch vehicle, Flight Safety System and ground segment.
• Carry out RF analyses including link budgets and performance assessments.
• Act as focal point for RF-related equipment and supplier follow-up.
• Define and verify RF requirements and interfaces including antennas and ICDs.
• Support integration, checkout and validation of RF systems within the vehicle and ground infrastructure.

Mission

As a Radio Frequency Engineer of the Avionics Team, your main mission will be to contribute with all aspects of the test, design and development of the Radio Frequency and communication systems, providing also support on the manufacturing, assembly and its integration in launch vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Define, prepare and execute RF functional, qualification and acceptance test campaigns at unit, subsystem and system level, including the generation of test plans, procedures, reports and verification evidence.
• Perform RF measurements, data analysis and troubleshooting activities using spectrum analyzers, VNAs, oscilloscopes and other RF laboratory equipment.
• Support the definition and development of the launch vehicle, Flight Safety System (FSS) and ground segment RF and communications architecture.
• Perform RF engineering analyses, including link budgets, visibility analyses, communication performance assessments and RF compatibility studies.
• Act as technical focal point for RF-related COTS equipment, SCOEs and EGSEs, supporting equipment selection, technical evaluations, supplier follow-up and qualification activities.
• Define, manage and verify RF requirements and interfaces, including antennas, RF equipment, communication links and associated Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
• Support the integration, checkout, verification and validation of RF systems within the launch vehicle and ground infrastructure, contributing to design reviews, configuration control and change management activities.

Necessary Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related technical field.
• Basic knowledge of RF systems, wireless communications and radio-frequency measurement principles.
• Experience working with RF laboratory equipment, including Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers (VNA), Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators and Power Meters.
• Understanding of RF fundamentals such as transmission lines, antennas, gain, losses, modulation schemes, link budgets and impedance matching.
• Ability to analyze technical data, interpret test results and troubleshoot RF-related issues in laboratory and integration environments.
• Familiarity with engineering documentation, including technical specifications, test procedures, test reports, ICDs and requirements management.
• Knowledge of qualification and verification activities, including functional, environmental and acceptance testing.
• Experience with data analysis and scripting tools (Python, MATLAB or similar) for automation and processing of engineering data.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Fluent in English and/or Spanish, both written and spoken.
