Job summary

AkzoNobel in Vilafranca del Penedès, Spain, is seeking an R&D Technician to join the Research & Innovation team. You will develop and test packaging coatings for the food, caps & closures, and B&B markets, maintaining a safe lab and delivering data-driven recommendations.

The role requires a postgraduate degree in a relevant scientific field, 2–3 years lab experience, and fluency in English and Spanish. Travel internationally during training is expected; own vehicle access is required.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree in a relevant scientific field.
• 2–3 years of hands-on lab experience.
• Strong practical skills and a methodical approach to lab work.
• Good command of English and Spanish.
• Availability to travel internationally during the training period.
• Personal vehicle to access the Site (in an industrial area).

Responsibilities

• Champion Safety: Maintain a clean, safe lab environment and follow all safety protocols.
• Hands-On Formulation: Prepare, apply, and test coatings to meet customer and commercial needs.
• Plan & Execute: Organize your daily/weekly lab work with guidance from senior team members.
• Analyze & Report: Record results accurately, analyze data, and make recommendations based on your findings.
• Grow your Expertise: Deepen your knowledge of coating chemistry and formulation techniques.
