Descripción del empleo

Innomerics has been awarded R&D funding under the 2024 Proyectos en Colaboración Público-Privada programme for the GENESIS Project – Digital Twins for Environmental Condition Monitoring and Thermal Safety in Industrial Facilities , developed in collaboration with the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE) .

We are seeking an experienced researcher holding a PhD degree to join our R&D team and contribute to the development of advanced digital twin technologies that combine CFD-based models, reduced-order modeling (ROM / HROM) techniques, Bayesian inverse algorithms, and sensor data fusion to monitor environmental and thermal conditions in industrial plants such as nuclear power plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct R&D activities on physics-based and reduced-order models (ROMs) using Kratos Multiphysics and pamONE , Innomerics’ proprietary digital-twin platform.
  • Develop algorithms for building reduced-order models based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) finite element models that simulate environmental conditions inside nuclear power plants.
  • Implement and test data-assimilation and inverse-problem algorithms (e.g., MCMC, optimization-based parameter estimation) to integrate sensor data into physics-based models.
  • Lead the design, validation, and deployment of digital twins for real industrial facilities.
  • Collaborate with CIMNE researchers to integrate high-performance computing (HPC) workflows and model-reduction strategies.
  • Publish scientific results in high-impact journals and present findings at international conferences.
Candidate Profile
  • PhD degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, Energy, or Computational Engineering (or related field).
  • Strong background in numerical methods , CFD , and thermo-fluid modeling .
  • Solid programming skills in Python and C++ ; familiarity with Kratos Multiphysics , MFEM , OpenFOAM , or similar frameworks is a plus.
  • Experience in data-driven modeling, inverse problems, or uncertainty quantification will be highly valued.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary research environment.
We Offer
  • A permanent full-time contract, not limited to the three-year duration of the GENESIS project.
  • Starting gross annual salary of 46,000 €
  • The opportunity to work in a cutting-edge collaborative project between Innomerics and CIMNE , bridging academic research and industrial applications.
  • Mentorship from leading experts in numerical methods and digital twins.
  • Active participation in real-world industrial applications in the energy and nuclear sectors.

If you hold a PhD and are passionate about simulation, modeling, and data-driven engineering, we invite you to join us in shaping the next generation of digital twins for critical infrastructures .
