Johnson Regional Medical Center in Arkansas is seeking a PRN Paramedic to provide field assessment, treatment and transport of patients under medical control. You will work within the EMS team to deliver rapid, high-quality care across diverse emergencies.

The role emphasizes airway management, trauma care and adherence to safety and regulatory standards, with opportunities for ongoing professional development and strong teamwork in a busy ED environment.

Formación

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current EMT-Paramedic certification.
• Current BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Valid State of Arkansas Driver's License.
• Excellent English communication, both spoken and written.

Responsabilidades

• Triage, assess, treat and transport patients as part of EMS operations.
• Perform life support, airway management, oxygen therapy and IV access.
• Administer medications in the field following the seven rights.
• Operate equipment safely and maintain ambulance supplies.
• Document interventions meeting current standards and policies.
• Communicate clearly with patients, co-workers and medical staff.

Description

Job Title: Paramedic, PRN

Supervised by: EMS Director

Job Summary:

Responsible for the assessment and management of medical, trauma and environmental emergencies under the supervision of on or offline medical control. Transports sick/injured persons to medical facilities.

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:

• Able to triage, assess, extricate (if applicable) and treat injured and sick persons.
• Responsibilities include Life support, airway management, oxygen therapy, venous access, shock prevention, splinting, and spinal immobilization.
• Ability to establish patient airway with oral and naso-pharyngeal airways, endotracheal intubation.
• Able to ventilate a patient with mask/ambu bag when necessary.
• Able to suction oral secretions.
• Immobilizes extremities on trauma patients; applies direct pressure to control hemorrhaging.
• Able to administer fluids and medications in the field.
• Follows the seven (7) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
• Able to assess pain and provide pain management.
• Interprets basic cardiac monitoring.
• Performs and assists with technical skills as defined in the scope of practice.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
• Adheres to ambulance policies addressing standard precautions, safety regulations and guidelines.
• Documentation meets current standards and policies.
• Transports patients and supplies safely.
• Maintains ambulance supplies and equipment.
• Operates equipment safely and correctly.
• Communicates clearly and concisely to co-workers, physicians, nurses.
• Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
• Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops; shows responsibility for ongoing education.

Professional Requirements:

• Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
• Completes annual education requirements.
• Maintains regulatory requirements.
• Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
• Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
• Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.
• Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.
• Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
• Attends 12 staff meetings annually or reads and returns all staff meeting minutes.
• Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
• Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
• Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.

Requirements

Regulatory Requirements:

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Current EMT - Paramedic certification.
• Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS certifications.
• Valid State of Arkansas Driver's License

Language Skills:

• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Additional languages preferred.

Skills:

• Basic computer knowledge.

Physical Demands:

Normal Emergency Department environment. Continuous exposure to biological hazards. Frequent exposure to unpleasant fumes and odors. Close eye work. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Distinguish smells; distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting up to 100 pounds. Carrying up to 100 pounds. Pushing/pulling up to 350 pounds.

This position is a safety sensitive position pursuant to Amendment 98 to the Arkansas Constitution § 2(25).
