Job summary

U.S. Fleet Forces Command seeks a qualified individual to manage gas turbine troubleshooting and repair on forces afloat. The role provides technical guidance for CASREPS, TDY requests, and NAVSEA-aligned troubleshooting beyond in-house engineering.

You will conduct analyses to improve design, maintenance procedures, and test/grooming of shipboard gas turbine systems, and support equipment readiness across afloat units abroad.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience in Marine Gas Turbine engines and generators.
• Perform testing and inspections on shipboard marine gas turbine systems to determine operability.
• Identify and resolve repair/overhaul or test/grooming problems affecting the system.
• Conduct engineering analyses to develop or evaluate improvements in maintenance and operation of equipment/systems.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair gas turbine systems onboard afloat.
• Provide technical assistance for urgent CASREPS or TDY requests.
• Offer authoritative engineering guidance to NAVSEA activities and port engineers for repair or test issues beyond in-house expertise.
• Conduct engineering analyses and studies to support design, maintenance, safety, and operation improvements.
• Perform functional checkout, adjustment, and test of shipboard systems in a test environment, responsible for major Gas Turbine operation.
• Evaluate compatibility of installed and planned Gas Turbine installations onboard afloat units.
• Communicate risk-based analyses including mitigations, restrictions, and monitoring requirements.
• Assimilate technical manuals, system drawings, parts support, and naval messages to support equipment requirements.
• Utilize borescope units and laser alignment tooling for data collection on gas turbines.
