About the location

Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor, perched on the spectacular Formentor Peninsula and surrounded by panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the stunning landscape, first opened its doors in August 2024 following an extensive restoration and renovation of the historic property, originally inaugurated in 1929 on a vast private estate. After its successful debut, the resort will reopen to guests in March 2025, reaffirming its status as a unique destination of luxury and elegance on the island.

About the role

The Nikkei Restaurant Chef is responsible for leading the kitchen team to deliver innovative, high-quality dishes that seamlessly blend Japanese techniques with Peruvian flavors, in line with the restaurant's Nikkei culinary concept. This role involves menu creation, food preparation oversight, team leadership, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The Chef plays a key role in offering guests a unique, memorable, and culturally rich dining experience.

  • Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including forecasting, scheduling, training, and motivating the team.
  • Lead, coach, and develop kitchen staff to maintain the highest standards of quality and presentation, reflecting both Japanese precision and Peruvian creativity.
  • Plan and develop menus and recipes that celebrate Nikkei traditions while incorporating local and seasonal ingredients.
  • Ensure consistency in preparation, presentation, and taste of all dishes.
  • Control labor and operating costs through efficient scheduling, budgeting, purchasing, and inventory management.
  • Conduct menu tastings and pre-service briefings to educate the team on flavor profiles, plating, and preparation techniques.
  • Anticipate and ensure the availability of necessary ingredients and supplies.
  • Promote innovation while minimizing waste through effective kitchen management and sustainable practices.
What you bring
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Gastronomy or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience in high-end or concept-driven restaurant kitchens, preferably with Nikkei or Japanese/Peruvian cuisine experience.
  • Strong creativity, adaptability, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote location and work collaboratively in a multicultural team.

Schedule & Hours

Seasonal contract, full-time (40 hours per week), with consecutive and rotating shifts - including early mornings, days, evenings, and weekends.
