Job summary

Amentum in Rota, Spain, seeks a Naval Architect to support the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC). You will inspect hulls, conduct stability reviews, and guide repair planning for forward-deployed U.S. Navy vessels across the 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities include on-site and remote inspections, corrosion assessments, casualty response, and documentation per JFMM standards. Travel and weekend support may be required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience inspecting US Navy hull, structure, and coatings.
• Ability to perform structural assessments, corrosion evaluations, and repair planning.
• Familiarity with Navy maintenance and reporting systems such as MFOM/NMD, FTS, CADET.

Responsibilities

• Provide Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) to evaluate casualties involving hull, structural, and coating systems.
• Conduct on-site and distant inspections of hulls, tanks, voids, and structural members to assess damage and develop repair recommendations.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled system assessments in support of TSRA, ICMP, INSURV, and other readiness evaluations.
• Evaluate corrosion, structural degradation, and coating system performance, and recommend corrective actions.
• Support ETB operations, including ship stability calculations and monitoring during casualties or drills.
• Participate in ETB drills and training, and respond to casualty events, including weekends and holidays as required.
• Provide logistics support, including material identification and repair requirement development.
• Deliver OJT and technical guidance to ship's force personnel on inspection and maintenance practices.
• Document findings using Navy systems (MFOM/NMD, FTS, CADET, MAFs) and prepare reports/debriefs per JFMM standards.
• Recommend updates to technical documentation, including MRCs, manuals, and drawings.
• Obtain and utilize technical documentation from FDRMC Technical Library and OEM sources.
• Travel as required to support forward-deployed naval forces across multiple OCONUS locations.
