U.S. Fleet Forces Command seeks a Materials Engineer to support the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center in the NDT/Welding Division. You will provide technical authority on repair projects and evaluate metal additive manufacturing technologies (DED, WAAM) for shipboard components.

You will certify welding procedures per NAVSEA standards and act as engineering advisor on qualification policies and technologies, coordinating with NAVSEA, shipyards, and contractors.

Formación

• Experience in materials engineering, metallurgy, and/or welding engineering to include analyzing and certifying welding procedures, evaluating material compatibility, and applying technical standards to the repair and fabrication of complex systems.
• Specialized experience at or above GS-11 level including reviewing welding procedure specifications (WPSs) and procedure qualification records (PQRs).
• Experience applying NAVSEA S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248 and other military standards to material engineering.
• Experience supporting disposition of non-conforming materials and participation in failure analysis investigations.
• Drafting correspondence, reports, and repair plans for review by a senior engineer.

Responsabilidades

• Provide technical authority on projects involving repair and modernization of Forward Deployed Naval Forces.
• Evaluate and implement metal additive manufacturing technologies (DED, WAAM) for shipboard component repair.
• Apply metal fabrication, metallurgy, and AM principles to resolve complex problems and guide welding/materials programs.
• Certify welding procedures and personnel per NAVSEA and higher authorities.
• Advise on evaluation and implementation for shipboard components of AM qualification policies and technologies.
• Prepare, present, and evaluate complex plans, reports, and qualification records with NAVSEA, private shipyards, and contractors.
