Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Medior Backend Software Engineer to join our Valencia or Algeciras office. You will design, implement, test, and maintain Java Spring Boot microservices powering our cloud-based solutions for ports and terminals.

You will build RESTful APIs, work with Kafka, MongoDB, Redis, Docker and Git, collaborate with product managers and UX designers, and help implement scalable, reliable software following best practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience in Java.
• Strong knowledge of Java and Spring Boot.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and asynchronous communication.
• Knowledge of clean code principles and best practices.
• Experience with automated testing on frontend and backend.
• Fluent English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain web application features using Java (Spring Boot).
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, testing, deployment and maintenance.
• Collaborate with developers, Product Managers and UX/UI designers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs and contribute to Kafka-based integrations.
• Write clean, efficient, testable, and maintainable code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and help improve development standards.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve defects and performance issues.
• Create automated tests to ensure feature reliability and quality.
