About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Lead Engineer with a strong background in thermal systems, rotating equipment, tanks, and structural integration for industrial energy projects, including thermal storage, modular plants, and packaged energy systems.

This role is critical to ensuring the mechanical and structural reliability of systems developed internally and by third-party suppliers. The candidate will lead the planning and execution of mechanical packages, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure that all designs and equipment meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and compliance.

The ideal candidate is both a technical leader and a hands‑on problem solver, capable of reviewing, approving, and integrating designs across tanks, rotating equipment, insulation, trace heating, and structural systems.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for the mechanical discipline across engineering, procurement, and construction phases.

Define and plan the mechanical scope : tanks, rotating equipment (pumps, blowers, agitators), insulation, trace heating, skids, and auxiliary systems.

Lead the coordination of mechanical and structural designs with process, electrical, instrumentation, and civil disciplines.

Review and validate structural calculations and designs (nodes, joints, load combinations) provided by third parties.

Assess integration of structures with plant equipment, piping, tanks, and access platforms.

Identify and resolve interferences or conflicts between disciplines.

Plan tasks and resources, monitor progress, and report status to Project Management.

Review and approve engineering deliverables (layouts, P&IDs, specifications, datasheets, calculations).

Supervise vendors and subcontractors during fabrication, installation, and commissioning.

Ensure compliance with applicable codes (ASME, API, PED, EN, Eurocode, AISC).

Support FATs, site activities, and commissioning as needed.

Prepare structural verification reports, risk assessments, and recommend design improvements.

Required skills & experience

Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or Structural Engineering with a mechanical background).

Minimum 8 years of experience in industrial or energy projects with leadership responsibilities.

Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit, integrity, self‑motivation, and passion for your work.

Proven expertise in :

Large storage tanks (thermal, pressure, or atmospheric)

Rotating equipment (pumps, blowers, agitators)

Thermal insulation and electrical trace heating

Structural systems : steel structures, supports, and heavy equipment integration

Experience reviewing third‑party engineering packages and verifying structural integrity.

Strong planning and coordination skills for mechanical and structural packages.

Familiarity with multidisciplinary design coordination and plant integration.

Excellent knowledge of relevant design codes and standards (ASME VIII, API 650, Eurocode, EN, AISC, ATEX, etc.).

Strong communication skills with a high proficiency in oral and written English.

Hands‑on, problem‑solving mindset.

Nice to have

Experience in energy storage systems, solar thermal, or industrial heat systems.

Familiarity with 3D model reviews and structural / mechanical coordination (Navisworks, SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, etc.).

Experience with supplier management, fabrication drawing reviews, and construction supervision.

Knowledge of CYPE Ingenieros and TEKLA Software.

Exposure to project management methodologies (e.g., PMP).

Understanding of construction planning, lifting strategies, and modularisation.

Who are you?

Entrepreneurial spirit, integrity, self‑motivation, and passion for your work.

Passionate about renewable energy and committed to driving the transition to a low‑carbon economy, you are eager to contribute to a mission‑driven organisation.
