Bioherent, a Málaga-based deep-tech spin-off, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design mechanical and automation features for our photonic biosensors. You will lead process development to bring products from concept to prototype-ready systems in a fast-moving, multidisciplinary environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering, 2+ years in mechanical product development, strong machine design knowledge, and fluency in English (Spanish a plus).

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in mechanical product development.
• Strong understanding of machine design and mechanical engineering.
• Fluent English; Spanish is a plus.

Company Description

Bioherent is a deep-tech spin-off from the University of Málaga developing state-of-the-art photonic biosensors to simplify and accelerate clinical diagnostics. Our technology combines photonics, chemistry, and clinical sciences to address unmet needs in healthcare. Role Description

The Mechanical Engineer at Bioherent will be responsible for designing the mechanical and automation features of the company’s photonic biosensors. In this role, you will lead process development and design activities to create commercial versions of the products.

Required background

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or compatible technical field
• At least +2 years experience in mechanical product development and design
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering and machine design principles
• Fluent English, both written and spoken. Spanish is a plus

Technical skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.
• Experience translating product requirements into mechanical specifications.
• Experience validating and testing prototypes against technical requirements
• Ability to generate clear technical documentation in a product development environment
• Familiarity with R&D processes in engineering or related fields

Preferred skills

• Experience in medical technology, photonics, or other regulated/high-tech environments
• Knowledge of automation process design and control
• Basic understanding of electronics and optics
• Basic programming skills in C/C++ or hardware platforms such as Arduino or ATMEL
• Basic scripting skills in Python or MATLAB
