Job description

This Full time on site position offers great opportunities for career growth.

Design the mechanics behind Earth observation missions with global impact.

At SATLANTIS, we develop high-performance optical payloads and space technologies to tackle some of the world's biggest challenges, from environmental monitoring to strategic defense.

We're now expanding our Mechanical Engineering team with both junior and senior profiles.

You'll join us at our HQ in Astrabudua (Bizkaia, Spain) to bring cutting-edge instruments to life.

You'll work side by side with engineers, analysts and technicians to design, prototype, and test payload components that will be launched into orbit.

This is your chance to shape real space missions from the inside.

What's in it for you
  • Mission-driven engineering: Work on payloads for space missions focused on Earth observation, defense, and scientific discovery.
  • Flexible working hours: Work-life balance starts with trust in how you manage your time.
  • Young, proactive, and dynamic environment: Join a collaborative team where autonomy and innovation are part of our daily mindset.
  • Private health insurance: Your wellbeing comes first--with top-tier medical coverage.
  • Office perks: Enjoy fresh fruit, quality coffee, and an energizing work atmosphere.
  • Discounts at campus facilities: Get access to local restaurants and sports installations on the UPV/EHU campus.
  • International exposure: Collaborate with ESA, European research institutions, and national defense organizations.
Your mission

You'll play a key role in the mechanical design and development of high-precision optical payloads and their mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE). From concept to testing, you will be part of the full lifecycle of satellite instruments that make a difference from space.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • You will design mechanical structures and components using CAD tools, considering thermal and optical constraints.
  • You will participate in mechanical and thermal testing, both in-house and at external facilities.
  • You will collaborate closely with systems engineering, optics, electronics, and project management teams.
What will set you up for success?
  • You have at least 2 years of experience in the aerospace sector or in opto-mechanical systems.
  • You have experience with CAD tools (ideally SolidWorks) and are confident creating part and assembly drawings.
  • You understand tolerance analysis, design for manufacturability, and enjoy seeing your designs built and tested.
  • You are a proactive team player who thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments.
  • You feel comfortable working in English and coordinating with international stakeholders.
  • You have a background in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, or related fields, and a passion for space technology.
You’ll stand out even more if you bring:
  • Experience in ESA/NASA/EC space projects or in high-reliability sectors.
  • Familiarity with FEM tools and thermal/mechanical distortion analysis.
  • Knowledge of optical systems, opto-mechanics, and integration techniques.
  • Hands-on testing skills: CMM, vibration/shock tests, thermal cycling.

Ready to take your mechanical design career into orbit? If you're passionate about engineering, space missions, and turning ideas into launch-ready systems- this is your opportunity.
