Job summary

CNAG, the Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico, based in Barcelona, is seeking a Systems and Security Administrator to manage Linux systems, HPC infrastructure, and compliance with ENS High Category and ISO 27001. The role combines security, operations, and infrastructure, with collaboration across IT and external partners.

Remote work up to two days per week in a 35-hour week, with a strong focus on reliability and data protection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience administering Linux systems in production environments.
• Experience with security principles and hardening practices.
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, Ansible).
• Familiarity with networking (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, VPNs).
• English proficiency and ability to work with international teams.

Responsibilities

• Administer Linux servers and virtualization for corporate and scientific services.
• Maintain HPC platforms and research computing services.
• Implement and operate security controls, ENS ISO 27001 compliance.
• Support backup, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot incidents, and optimize infrastructure.
• Collaborate with COcs and external security providers as needed.
• Develop automation scripts and operational tooling to improve reliability.
