remoteo is seeking a Legal Counsel in Barcelona to focus on consumer law across major European jurisdictions. You will advise on terms, cross-border regulatory matters, and embed compliant practices within our travel subscription platform.

Requirements include 5+ years’ experience in consumer law, English fluency, and a legal degree with EU qualification. We offer a hybrid work model and a dynamic, international team.

Qualificações

• Law degree with qualification to practice in a European jurisdiction (preferably Spain, Germany, France, or the UK).
• Minimum 5+ years’ professional experience as a lawyer with a consumer-law focus.

Responsabilidades

• Advise on current consumer law across websites/apps/products, including travel subscription programmes.
• Draft, update and maintain terms and conditions for websites/apps and products/services.
• Manage processes with public administrations and consumer protection authorities across key European jurisdictions.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to embed legal concepts into business practices.
• Contribute to the legal team's precedent bank and Know‑How resources.
• Horizon scan for upcoming regulatory changes and assist with implementation.
• Provide training to team members and business stakeholders.
• Manage outside legal counsel and budget.
• Support other legal team and business teams as needed.

What you will do

The Role's Key Responsibilities and Tasks

• Advise on current consumer law and the application of same across our websites in our products, content and services, including in particular our travel subscription programme;
• Draft, update and maintain terms and conditions of our websites/apps and our products and services;
• Manage processes and dialogues with relevant public administrations and consumer protection authorities across key European jurisdictions;
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and business teams to ensure that legal concepts are communicated clearly, and legal frameworks are incorporated into business practices;
• Contribute to the legal team's precedent bank in the creation and maintenance of internal Know How and guidance documents;
• Horizon scan for upcoming regulatory changes that may impact the business and assist in the implementation where needed;
• Provide training to other team members and business stakeholder
• Manage outside legal counsel (including working to budget allowances);
• Provide support to other members of the legal team, and to business teams, on an as-needed basis;

What do you need to succeed

• Degree in Law with qualification to practice law in a European jurisdiction (preferrably Spain, Germany, France, or the UK);
• Fluent in English (working language). Native or professional proficiency in a second European language is a strong preference (e.g. Spanish, German, French, or Italian). The candidate must have excellent communication (written and verbal) skills in English and relevant market languages, with the ability to draft complex legal texts;
• A minimum of 5+ years' professional experience practising as a lawyer, with a combination of private practice and in-house with consumer law focus preferred;
• Strong consumer law knowledge and experience in the digital sector is required, experience in the travel industry an advantage but not essential;
• Experience managing procedures with public administrations and/or related to Consumers or Travel industry preferred;
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with strict attention to detail and the ability to manage projects and priorities;
• Strong work ethic and organisational skills with the desire and motivation to design and implement streamlined procedures and workflows;
• Versatility is essential as you will be asked to assist in a wide range of matters.
