Descripción del empleo

About Wooptix

Wooptix is a semiconductor wafer metrology innovator that provides the fastest, most accurate in‑line measurements with the highest lateral resolution. Through its use of wavefront phase imaging (WFPI), a proprietary technique derived from research in adaptive optics, its systems measure the shape, uniformity, nanotopography and roughness of the entire silicon wafer in a single image. It is actively deploying solutions at various customer sites across Asia, Europe and North America.

Together with their resistance to vibrations and ease of adapting to the user’s needs, they are valuable systems for measuring the wafer shape and nanotopography in a single image.

Our Mission

We design and develop disruptive metrology equipment for the semiconductor industry, delivering unmatched resolution and precision with the highest throughput.

About the role

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for guiding the mechanical design of cutting‑edge metrology systems for the semiconductor industry. In the initial phase, your main focus will be on leading the mechanical engineering team, translating complex requirements into robust, manufacturable designs that meet the highest performance standards of the semiconductor environment.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to grow into a broader multidisciplinary leadership position, contributing both technically and strategically to the success of advanced metrology products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Coordination
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers.
    • Plan and prioritize engineering tasks, maintaining the team backlog and aligning it with project and organizational milestones.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, address roadblocks, and ensure clear communication of priorities.
    • Foster a collaborative and high‑performance team culture.
  • Technical Execution
    • Oversee and contribute on the mechanical design, analysis, and validation of assemblies, ensuring robustness, manufacturability, and compliance with requirements.
    • Developing specifications and successfully translating them into innovative concepts by collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders.
    • Review and approve design documentation, drawings, and BoMs.
    • Ensure proper revision control and adherence to PLM processes.
  • Project Support
    • Collaborate closely with Project Leaders, Systems Engineers, Software and Logistics teams to ensure technical deliverables meet cost, quality, and schedule targets.
    • Anticipate resource needs and identify potential risks or delays in the development pipeline.
    • Provide technical input in design reviews and customer meetings when required.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Drive improvements in design processes, documentation standards, and communication workflows.
    • Contribute to standardization and best practices within the mechanical and electronics engineering domain.
What we’re looking for

We’re seeking a technically driven leader who enjoys guiding teams while remaining close to engineering work. This is a great opportunity for you if you have a strong foundation in precision mechanical design, and you’re comfortable stepping into the CAD environment when needed to help solve complex challenges or accelerate delivery.

The ideal candidate brings experience in high‑precision or semiconductor equipment, the ability to plan and prioritize work efficiently, and the mindset of a pragmatic problem‑solver who balances team leadership with hands‑on contribution.

Must‑have requirements
  • A Master’s degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in product development, preferably in high‑tech, optical, or semiconductor‑related industries.
  • Experience in precision mechanical design for complex opto‑mechanical or mechatronic systems.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent) and PDM / PLM systems.
  • Experience on securing quality in deliverables throughout the entire project life (CAD, Drawings, Technical documentation, etc…)
  • Experience with FEM simulation tools
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent activities.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Nice to have
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing environments or cleanroom compatibility.
  • Knowledge of motion systems and precision stages (linear guides, actuators, flexures).
  • Exposure to electronics integration, signal integrity and cable routing.
  • Understanding of vibration isolation and thermal management for high‑precision instruments.
  • Experience in supplier management and design transfer to manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, ISO 2768, and other mechanical drawing standards used in precision systems.
  • Experience with system‑level integration and test, including troubleshooting complex assemblies.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies (engineering backlog management).
What we offer
  • Indefinite full‑time contract.
  • 23 working days of holiday.
  • Competitive salary range.
