A leading agricultural research center in Bellaterra is seeking a Lab Technician to assist in the Genetics and Genomics of vegetable crops. The candidate will conduct various laboratory tasks including plant phenotyping, gas-exchange analysis, DNA and RNA extractions, and PCR-genotyping. Applicants should have a BSC in related fields and some laboratory experience, particularly with plants. This full-time position is contracted for 3 months, providing a great opportunity to work in a dynamic research environment.

Responsibilities

The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) is looking for a Lab Technician to be part of the group Genetics and genomics of vegetable crops.

The candidate will be in charge of:

• Plant growth, flower and fruit phenotyping
• Gas‑exchange analysis (O₂) with specialized equipment (Clark type oxygen electrode).
• DNA and RNA extractions from leaf and fruit tissues
• PCR‑genotyping and gene expression analysis (qPCR)
• Metabolite extractions for metabolomics analyses

The tasks are included within the framework of the project MITORIPEN with reference code PID2024-163099NB-I00.

Requirements

Educational requirements:

• BSC in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or related areas

Experience:

• Basic skills on laboratory analyses in biochemistry and molecular biology
• Experience working on plants
• Data and statistical analysis

Working Conditions

• Contract Duration: 3 months
• Hours/week: full time
